hi guys..

I'm having a problem drawing smooth lines with my Graphire 2 on Photoshop 7.

When I draw a line, or try to make a curved stroke with the graphire, the eventual stroke in Photoshop's very jittery.

I've tried adjusting the "Spacing option" to 5, from the default 25. But heck, it doens't work. Rolling Eyes

But with Illustrator and Painter everything comes out fine.

Can anyone help? My system's 860 mhz with 386 ram.

Thanks in advance! Very Happy

draw slower / lower your res /use a smaller brush etc, photoshop was never designed to be used to paint with.. where as painter/illustrator are for just that so have been optimised..

that's a shame... coz I look at the artwork by some of the people here (made on photoshop) and they're really breathtaking!!!

plus, PS7's interface is alot nicer...

I uusally use between 75 - 150 dpi for my stuff.. is there really no other solution?

In the Photoshop 7 brushes palette is an option called "smoothing". Make sure it is selected because it enables tablet interpolation, which will help you get smoother lines.

You can also be suffering from a bad driver setting. Make sure you've got the latest Wacom drivers and reset it to its default config. Some tablet settings produce less than optimal results.

Lastly, make sure your tablet and cord are away from other electicial/RF sources such as your monitor because that can cause problems sometimes.

Also, be aware that if you have your canvas shrunk down to a werid ration, like 66.7%, you'll see distortion or jitter lines. But upon zooming in, they will most likely be smooth (Provided you fallowed the other suggestions outlined above.).

i used to have a jitter problem with my wacom too, the solution is radio frequency move it back 5 inches from your monitor, or 900mgh phone, or anything els causing radio frequency. also, if u dont use the wacom mouse, turn it off.. i think its called doal tracking, so it only tracks pen only , changing the board to accept only the pen and radio signals wont interfere asmuch. hope this helps, let me know

I'm using a laptop so I do't think screen interfernce is the problem...

Now I just use Illustrator to sketch, rasterize upon export to PS....
