I also had a question on texture. if anyone can give me some tips on the thick, natural texture that i see so much on the site. I can never seem to build up enough texture. Not on this pic, which should be retty smooth, but in general thanks!! |

I think the best looking parts are: chin, mouth, and right cheek.
I don't like the clothes though.. The pants are too high up, and it's PINK! :D |

Well your fleshtones are really very good and the face looks as if it is probably pretty acurate. The clothes are what bug me though it seems like you hit a stopping point in your range of values and didn't push past it. It looks like maybe silk or rayon (probably because a lack of texture and the way it is smoothly handling the light) but I think that even beyond values, there are hue variations that you can introduce into the fabric that would make it read more natural. Silk and rayon is so reflective that it will actually take on some of the color of the reflected light from nearby oblects like a freshly mown lawn beneath the guy or a red brick house to the side. I know that none of the objects I mentioned are present but the nuances that they would leave would help this stand-alone figure come to life a little more. (because there isn't a world of white light being reflected in the clothes either) If he is in fact wearing cotton then you might want to disregard most of what I said here. _________________ Obviously,
