Hi all!
I have been working on this for quite a while, and although I am reasonably happy with it, there still seems to be something lacking.
The alien itself still seems very flat, and there's a lot of detail all over the place....no real focal point. I really want to give it a bit more....depth, stronger lighting....But I want the alien to look very shiny and reflective also.
Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
[EDIT] Image updated since original post.....I think it's looking a bit better!

You only have to use strong reflexes to make it shiny, the rest could be more dark
But I love it the way it is! _________________ *

I like it. I hate to say it but a lot of the flatness may come from the total profile of the upper body and head. Nice overall texture/shine though. Not sure about the fire. _________________ wait...wait...........what? |

I'd maybe darken the background alot, and also blur it if you dont want to put too much detail in. In fact I'd darken the background a hell of a lot, and just put some shadows in from the light of the fire, almost as if the wall is glowing the colour of the reflected fire, but not too much. Also work on the fire a bit.
Also the character and the background are a very similar colour/shade, darkening it would help I think.
just my thoughts, someone correct me if they think i'm wrong. |

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I have darkened the background and added some lighting from the flames.
Still not finished, but I think it's definitely getting better. Thanks 'Mark! |

Fantastic job. I am a huge Alien fan and this is absolutely great. Only thing Id do is use just a bit more very dark shadows. Aliens likes to hang out in dark places, such as the one in your picture and they tend to have a lot of details at their skin. I think the skin would look better if there would be those dark shadows between those little skin details. I dont think that we could be able to see that much of the details in that kinkd of typical dark Alien hangout place.
Oh, and now I need coffee, cant write.
Keep up! |

Hey, Nice Image.
I've done an overpaint, hope you don't mind. If you do notify me, and I'll remove it from the my server.
I tried to bring out some of the thing that other people already mentioned.
Don't know if this version is better, but sometimes it good to get
other peoples view on an image you've stared at for hours.
cheers
