This is the less-so-speedy version of a pic in speedpainting.
(Inspired by the woman in the Scorpian king movie.)

I think this one lacks some of what the earlier version has, but the opposite is also true, and I prefer this one over the earlier one.

This is another version but with a different background. I don't what you think, but I decided that it made the thing too 'spacious' feeling, and also weirded up the composition somewhat. clickey:

hey

I saw this one in the speedy too.
The last version really gives the painting more depth with that dark blue sky in the back, if you want to get it even more balanced you could add some of that dark in the lower left just below that cheramics or perhaps even lower than that on the bench somewhere.
Very nice work there Captn. Smile

see you in the speedy. Smile

hey matt,

For me, I liked the slightly claustrophobic feeling of the all indoors one.
The extra depth and moonlight reduce the party atmosphere i think.

Mind you, there's a slightly better balance of interest maybe with the sky in there..

I just don't like how the arms and legs are cropped and how she is centered.
And I think the black area for the hair takes away from the image.
Looks too flat IMO.

The background is very good!

I think I'm learning that I don't know what people like.

The bits of the pic that I like most are the bits you guys are criticising, and the bits you like, like the background, I find pretty mundane. The figure is basically the only interesting element for me.

Thanks for the comments, it's good to know what people like.

This is pretty cool actually cause I have noticed the same thing.
If I like a picture for example a speedy that I have made I have noticed that there arent anyone that likes that picture that much. And sometimes when I post a picture that I dont think to much of at all I get a lot of comments and people say that they like that picture.
That kind of makes the whole thing more complicated to what works and what does not work, I guess it is all about taste but it is cool if both the maker of a picture and the beholder of it thinks the same way.

To edit my earlier comment, I actually like all of the versions but in my kind of taste that last one stood out more.

my rambling of the whole thing.
