Matthew: Poor Dustboy ... can't see that road. That can't end well Wink
You post great images lately. Sometimes you put details where I wouldn't put them.
And you leave areas rough that deserve more attention.
But maybe that's just me ...

All: Amazing stuff! ... what else can I say?

Usually I thought about speedpainting as practicing getting stuff right quickly ...
getting rid of unnecessary respect of painting/drawing.

But the part about "not worrying about everything" was kinda new for me.
Of course I did that too ... but I didn't think about that as speedpainting.

Well here I didn't worry too much about perspective and proportions ...
I just tried to come up with interesting concepts.
I guess the first three images have potential!?

spooge demon- I always liked your oil paintings. (and the watercolors, and the pastels, and the gouaches, and the digital and etc etc Smile) And looking to the last one that you post I saw a strong "impasto" on the surface. Did you use the same canvas over and over, doing sketchs over sketchs?

this was a wip that has been sitting on my hd for a long time, never got round to doing anything to it due to it being flat and very badly lit, but i wanted to do something to it as i had worked on the figures a little, didn't want to just dump it

figured a change of perspective and a bit of simplification would help, this is after about 30mins mess around (the lighting is a bit screwed on the 2 lower figures), still not sure about it though (subconciously the changes are completely inspired by monsieur spooge's streetpatrol)

any advice welcome

It's been a while, my computer has some problem. It doesn't boot up at all. So I try about twenty times today. It finally boot, so might as well finish a quickie before it dies.

gecko > that street is amazing, I love it.
briscola > very nice, there's something about that green

I tried resizing it to smaller dimensions, but I liked it better big.

Worst scan ever...sorry.

Proceeding along the slow salt river to the east, one comes, at length, upon a region of twisted trees and birds with long tongues. These birds are Lingua horribilis, and one must not linger among them, especially at night. For, should one fall to snoring, mouth open wide, it is not unheard-of for such a bird to land upon one's face and thrust its tongue down one's throat, scooping out great lumps of entrails with its pointed tip.

This area is also populated by the Lesser Short-Necked Spatulate Vulture, which the long-tongued birds devour in their thousands.

@ Socar:

I really love your drawings!

I did another try an my orc prince subject:

I should not have rendered the head this much I think. But I feel to have made a small step into the right direction. Working time was 100 minutes. It helped me to think of the scene as a landscape

pato, thanks, uh, that impasto is from the gesso underneath, I have two gallons of it and I am trying to use it up. It does not lend itself to contolled work, as it is like painting on a car hood, so I pile it on so the paint becomes the surface instead of the gesso.

Decoy, 1000 percent better, I think. I thought the same thing before I read your comment on the head. Simplify the planes, amd do it exactly.

Not like this. This is a mess, tooo fast, too much painting, not enough thinking. Gotta go too far both ways so you can figure out the balance.

I am going to Grandmas for a week, I can read but not post images.
