I thought this was quite fascinating : http://www.irobotnow.com : I remember seeing the commercial for it on an NBC news commercial break a few weeks ago, though only recently visited the site. Quite amazing.

All the website had was a bunch of errant claims (100% efficiency, for example) and gnostic robotic nonsense.

Supposedly, it's a fully functional android that responds to voice commands. No one will really know for sure how true or not it is till they give a demo. :\

Lol if it is then what a crude joke!

I was curious if it was real, since I know the military was working on those type of magnetic muscles for war machines and industrial/factory stuff. They had a prototype working 5 years ago or something. All the other parts sound feasible - except the brain that is lol.

I saw the clip and at first was a bit intrigued, but then the tag line "intelligent" came across the screen, and right then I knew it had to be a joke.

I have a friend, Mark Connell, that has worked extensively in bot AI and the Turing Test (he actually competed in the Loebner Test a while back in England), and technology today has a long, long way to go before a machine is ever intelligent enough to pass as human or demonstrate human characteristics without coming across as machine.

We have a long way to go and are far from it.
