The Hulk is awesome, and more than makes up for the Matrix being a big pile of ass. Go see it. It's the best monster-run-amok movie I've seen in a long time.
I'm not a fan of superheroes, but The Hulk is more along the lines of a drive-in flick from the 60s. You've got your scientists, your radiation, and your desert base; all the essential elements of a proper monster movie. It's big, dumb fun.
Props to the visual effects team. Gorgeous work. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

yeah i just came back from it and i have to say it was pretty good. i was very impressed with the animations for the character and now i'm really curious why so many people thought they were poorly done. |

Unfortunately I don't feel the same enthusaism. I was very disappointed. Don't get me wrong the CGI sequences were amazing! There was a great movie in the there somewhere, it was just to long and dragged out most of the time. The running time of the movie was 2hrs and 20 mins. If they were to cut 45 mins of it, it would have been an awesome flick. For me it seemed there were trying to show a more human side of the monster, Nick Nolte over acted, he could have been cut out of the film completly. Bla bla bla I go could on forever. Go see it on the big screen, but don't pay full price, go on a cheapy night or something. _________________ It's better to have something and not need it, then to need it and not have it. |

I havent seen the movie and I dont think I will see it neither.
Kind of disappointing that they choosed the 60s Hulk for a movie and not the Hulk form the 80s when The Hulk magazine was best, I mean the Hulk from the 60s looks like a big frankenstein. I have always been a fan of The Hulk when it was made in the 80s especially the year 84, anyone who knows who the ink and pencil guys was back then for The Hulk?

I just saw it.
Holy shit!
Came in expecting crap, walked away very impressed. I don't have a single bad thing to say about it. I even liked the long beginning and Nick Noltes numerous scenes.
The effects (HULK) are fucking amazing. Every time you expect fake candy physics you get a realistic 15' tall green dude (;]) smashing tanks and leaping miles through the air. I just wish there was gore, some villains deserved to die ugly.
I also didnt grow up on the comics or old shows, never really knew what that green thing was all about until tonight. Awesome.
Its not a thought provoking film, just a very good comic adaptation. _________________ "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity" - Sigmund Freud |

I thought the new Matrix was excellent, and wasn't much for the Hulk. The effects were great, but near the end there, it just got too stupid for my tastes. _________________ Niv. Yeah. |

If you liked the Matrix for its fight scenes or grim like embiance go rent Equilibrium. This movie is just awesome.....unique and it makes you think. It wasn't released in theatres because of the "free" violance in it. But its great......Christian Bale kicked ass in this movie, good choice of actors...etc etc
rent it now
I know its out of the topic....but... *shrug* _________________ I touch myself only where it counts |

Equilibrium was predictable. A complete matrix rip-off. _________________ My spoon is too big. |

I still cant see anything even remotely similar between Matrix and Equilibrium. What dudes in black coats == Matrix ripoff?
Equilibrium deals primarily with emotions, feelings. Matrix questions reality.
I don't even know how the spec. effects are similar. There is no bullet time, no camera chains, just gunfights and those are unique and don't look like anything in the matrix. _________________ "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity" - Sigmund Freud |

Whatever you make of equilibriums plot, you cant call it a matrix ripoff, the gun fights kicked ass and did something new and exciting. In terms of action i think its no more derivative than the matrix. Christian Bale deserves to be a huge star. |

*nods
the fight scenes were unique indeed, I found it original to qualify guns as extentions to your arms and body like weapon in none open hand martial arts _________________ I touch myself only where it counts |

I walked away from it more impressed than I thought Id be. I didnt go in expecting much and I got slightly more.
I thought the ending was way too comic book like. I think there are some things you can get away with in a comic book that you cant do in t a movie. The whole lightning dad things was one of those things. It tried to make me suspend my belief too much. Other than that, I thought it was a half decent movie. |

Saw it a couple of days ago. I went into the cinema with no expectations of a story, just hoping for pure dumb fun.
And when the light turned on after 2 and a half hours I had a big stupid grin on my face, cause I had been given JUST that. As Germ01 said there was a great deal of overacting especially from Nick Nolte. The film at it's slow paced parts reminded me of some Shakespearean high school play with bad actors.
But the CGI action and direction of the whole thing was SOOO well done so I just endured Nick Noltes overacting eagerly anticipating the next action sequence to hit me. I had more fun watching this movie than I had seing the matrix reloaded. Cause be serious, all of you people who are disappointed at this movie; how could you possibly have any expectations at all of a movie called THE HULK for crying out loud. I thought spiderman was really bad too storywise (sp?), maybe a bit better than the hulk but still bad. Let's stop kidding ourselves.
If you are in the mood for intellectual stimulans and witty remarks and a good script and some serious acting you DONT pick the hulk. And If you somehow end up having choosen the hulk and you still want all the above mentioned + the encredible action then you are just setting yourself up my friend, cause you will only get one thing from The Hulk and that is THE RUSH! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I thought Equilibrium was exactly Farenheit 451 using a grim sort of matrix/blade runner theme. After reading bradbury's book, I thought that equilibrium seemed like a complete rip off. The movie really didn't speak to me. The plot was more full of holes than critics would argue about bradbury's book(I liked F451 though). The only original thing equillibrium had to work on was the cleric fighting style - and with all the kung fu movies with gun scenes, you knew someone was going to think that up sooner or later!
As for the hulk, I agree that it was pretty good overall. Had that good old comic book feel to it. The only part I disliked was the blown up end. What was that? A giant radioactive mushroom tumor? An artsy movie, but seemed like all it was.
After reading up a bit on what different people had to say about the matrix, I think it has a lot of secrets up it's sleeves, you'll just have to wait for the third to really understand the second film. _________________ -------Wicked------- |

Boy were you wrong about the third movie, weren't you Ewok? I can at least give Equilibrium a break 'cause it was made with just $20 million and was rushed through production. Oh, yeah and Bale shows his acting talent a thousand times better than any of the main characters in the second and third (cash cows) Matrix. I know 20/20 hind-site and all, but Equilibrium gave me the same "ooh wooow neat" fealing as watching the first Matrix did(which by the way was completely absent in the second and third).

Maybe, funny you should mention it because I just watched it again an hour ago. Watch matrix revolutions again. It's not that bad the second time around:P When I first watched it, I disliked the ending so much it made me feel that the beginning was just as bad. I thought I would sleep on the chair tonight, I usually can't stand watching movies twice in a span of a week, but I was entertained. Like the first matrix, there are little easter eggs hidden in the plot, they are just not as well presented and not so obvious. I agree with you on the acting, there was just too much dead, expository dialog going on and seemed too contrived. _________________ -------Wicked------- |

Watch it again? No way. Though there were some interesting visuals, it was pretty lame. The fight between the humans and machines was just dumb. Why didn't the machines just nuke them? Why didn't they time the entrance of several diggers so that 10 would break through at once, and millions of machines could enter? When they did enter and attack, why did they stay in easily shootable groups, even when attacking a single target? Why did they always attack from the front? Why didn't they spread out to be harder to shoot, and fly in between the human defenders so they would shoot each other as well? Why didn't they block the door where guys were running out with wheelbarrow of ammo, or shoot those guys immediately? Why did they just fly around doing nothing most of the time?
I did like that they killed off most of the main characters throughout the series, though. Too many times in Hollywood the good guys live no matter what, so we don't ever feel like there's any real danger. But still, it was a crap movie, and the more I think about it the more problems I come up with. The first one had the same problems, but since we weren't forced to think about it, and were encouraged to just go with the flow and enjoy the action, it didn't become a problem. |

Personally, I went to see the third matrix for the artwork and designs more then anything. Just so damn nifty to see all that stuff in motion like that. As for the hulk, haven't seen it yet, now interested in renting it (or seeing it if its still there).
Btw... mr. sessler of tech tv's xplay brought up an iiiinteresting issue regarding a uh *cough* little odd phenomenon hulk can do. That to be honest, makes absolutely no sense what so ever. He goes from a scrawny white man to a lean mean crushing 15ft jolly green giant. Except, his PANTS seem to magically stretch to whatever size he is! He probably goes from a size 30 to a 72 or something. Are they *truly* one size fits all?? |

Generally, if a film has more than one flashback sequence, it tends to lose me. Also, the fight with the dogs was way too dark, I couldn't see a thing. The big orgasmic battle with poppa when they were underwater.. and in the clouds.. and stuff was extremely hard to follow. Really, I felt like I was watching a screensaver.
Special effects were flat-out amazing. Anyone who says the hulk looked fake has been seeing CGI through rose-colored glasses for the last 10 years. The screen transitions and comic-book styling was also refreshing, if not a little sporadic.
As a post script, I would like to mention that Jennifer Connolly is TEH HOTTESST EVARR. _________________ QED, sort of. |
