This place now stands on the top of my list of some of the coolest places on earth! The religious fanatics running around with rocket launchers in shorts and cool 70's style clothes and afros. An excellent theme for a movie it seems. Plus Shakira is from Beirut, Lebanon.

PS: Somalians definately got some style as well, but they are too violent. |

Argh, it's on Geocities and it's reached it's data limit already.
Really interesing photos though. Lebanon is an interesting place (with a somewhat tragic recent history). Used be ruled by the Maronites, a Catholic order who supposedly were supposed to represent the country, given that they were actually a minority. Tons of different ethnic groups competing for the same places, Sunni Muslims, Shia Muslims, Druze (worth reading up on), Maronites, Armenians, Orthodox etc.
I think they reached a compromise now where the President is a Sunni Muslim and the Prime Minister is Christian, but large amounts of Armenians and other Lebanese Christians have now moved to the United States and Europe. Which, in a way, was good for us, because Lebanese restaurants are excellent... |

Yeah, it looks like all of the most vicious religions are/were present in that region 
I recommend looking up some Afghanistan war photos as well.
PS: It's not over though.. bombs explode and rockets are flying. |

u guys want a violent place? check out el salvador sometime...
its the place where 80% of the 'faces of death' videos are filmed...
Guerrilla warfare downthere is horrible and people are killed instantly, decapitated, and their heads shown off to others as a sign no to mess with the guerrilla... all over b.s. wannabe political rants...

I once got lost in Compton. I thought it would pass, but further we went the angrier the natives got. Then they tried to sell us some toothpaste and bubble gum on a red light. Thats when we turned back.

| holy crap, I read Richard Marckincos autobiography, he was in lebonnen with seal team six and there were so many carbombs and crazy people shooting each other it was awsome! |
