This is like a companion thread to "What man and woman fascinates you?" thread.
They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder(or beer-holder). So, let's see beauty through everyone's eyes.
Post images of people that you find breathtakingly beautiful. Of course, physical beauty is not the sole reason why we are drawn to people, so feel free to post pics of fat Elvis if you are hopelessly drawn to him.
Mine:
Ekaterina Gordeeva-- The kind of grace she posseses is so rare. Watching her skate is like deep meditation, except you have a big smile on your face. Of course, the tragic love story between her and Sergei Grinkov is just. . .. *sigh*
The incredible Jennifer Connelly. A lot of her "fans" seems to be mesmerized by her...assests. I think that's really selling her short. She's an incredibly intelligent, talented, humble, and down to earth person, as she has demonstrated over and over for almost 2 decades in the showbiz. Her winning the Golden Globe recently is something that's long over due. Next time, Jenny's taking home an Oscar.
Julia Ormond-- This charming, intelligent, and elegant woman might not be a stunning beauty, but what she radiates from the inside overshadows any super model's surface beauty.
Ingrid Bergman-- I rarely am deeply attracted to blondes, but then again, Ingrid Bergman is not the likely blonde. Her elegance and grace is legendary; evertime I sit down to watch Casablanca, I'm mostly watching because of her.
Hope Sandoval- the mysterious and brooding siren of Mazzy Star. All she does is stand absolutely still on stage and sing, yet just the sight of her is hypnotic.
Lisa Ekdahl-- the ridiculously cute girl with the angelic voice. I've never heard jazz singing like hers, and what beautiful sound! A big thanks to the big guy upstairs, for sending one of his best to live among the mortals.

Cripes! That Martinelli girl's head would weigh more than the rest of her.
In a canvas sack.
Wet.
Is she gonna be ok? Should we tell World Vision?
(I'd post some, but it's tough. Truly enchanting folks are almost never out of arms reach for me. That is to say, pictures, moving or otherwise, don't do it for me. Well OK, there's a few. Maybe later.) |

Gwen Sefani - Adorable and sexy. I could just watch her all day.
Gillian Anderson - What I wouldn't give not only to have the skills to paint portraits, but to have Gillian Anderson sit for me.

Aura-- There are too many good looking people in this world, so I have to be selective about who gets my attention. Only the truely beautiful(inside and outside)deserves respect and admiration. The rest are just pretty pictures to keep us somewhat entertained.
zaar-- I found out about her a long time ago while listening to her debut CD at a listening station at Tower Records. She's not famous here at all. Most of the stuff I listen to are not big names(thought they might be big in their respective sub-culture).
kantide-- Can't see your pics.
Gimbal8-- Gwen is a college friend of my high school buddy. She's a really nice person, and has an adorable personality.
Steven-- What's the deal with Adjani? Why doesn't she ever age? Is she a witch??? (I'm a fan, BTW. La Reine Margot... wow.)
MoleculeMan-- It's Connelly. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Alexis Bledel.
She may look young, but I believe she is 20 years old... She seems like a very smart and well-read character.

Bjork - she has this otherworldly beauty and aura about her... almost elfin... and that combined with the power and passion in her voice - I'm totally captivated . Some may say she isn't pretty in a traditional sense or that she is even downright odd-looking.. but to me that's part of her charm.. and its really the spirit she projects that makes her beautiful in my eyes.
Not sure if this is the best photo out there.. but its what i found after a quick search:
Good call Lunatique on Hope Sandoval - another one of those whose voice and image combine to totally mesmerize. |

Ahcri-- Whoa. I've been away from the states, so I've missed out on the whole Gilmore Girls thing. Alexis is... *sigh* The big guy upstairs was feeling quite inspired when he made her? She's especially lucky that not only is she gorgeous, she also has the advantage of youth. The older I get, the more I find youth valuable and precious.
Michael Clarke-- I was a fan of Bjork's since the Sugarcube days, and when she sang a song for 808 state about 11 years ago. But, as she got bigger, I started to lose interest. Not because of her fame, but because of the fact she has a realy bad temper(punching out people who pissed her off), and critics raving about HER music, when it's her PRODUCERS that makes the music, not her. It's like the Madonna syndrome where people don't even seem to realize Madonna can't even play an instrument or compose/arrange. I mean, Bjork is famous because of the quirkiness of her electronica sound, but she had very little to contribute to that. I miss the old Sugarcube days.

This thread is not about boys posting pics of pretty girls!
Just because I posted girls doesn't mean it has to be girls. I just happen to find girls a lot more beautiful than boys.

Have you guys read those articles about how we perceive physical beauty? They do these interesting tests by combining different faces together, which produced a face that showed the sum is more beautiful than its parts. I'm not sure why that is, but it could be because the unique quirkiness/flaws of each face is now gone, but the common things that makes a face beautiful is stacked together and amplified.
I did a couple of my own tests for a painting I'm working on. The result is pretty interesting. (I know Steven does this too. It's a good way to understand what makes a face beautiful).
This first one is combined from the following people: Rachel Leigh Cook, Alexis Bledel, Thora Birch, Anna Paquin, and Emi Wakui.
This second face is combined from the following people: Athena Chu, Katie Holmes, Alexis Bledel, Rachel Leigh Cook, Anna Paquin

Interesting. Both pictures kinda look like the same girl. A very cute one at that.
I've seen some shows on TLC or maybe Discovery channel about the human animal, sexual attraction that sort of thing. They discussed attractiveness as it pertains to mate selection (shiny hair, white eyes, good complection etc signify good health etc). And also ritualistic behavior likened to courtship (females flipping the hair to one side, exposing the neck) and all sorts of other interesting things. Anybody else catch those shows? |

Lunatique - I have to disagree somewhat with that view of Bjork. Though I agree the punching people out bit is not cool (i didn't know about that)... the other part about her music being made by producers is simply not true. Yes, she has collaborated with a lot of elctronica artists, but i'm pretty sure she does a lot of the production / arranging work herself - and writes or at least co-writes all of the songs. For example, on Vespertine she is credited with: "Programming, Producer, String Arrangements, Music Box, Harp Arrangement, Vocal Editing." She is definitely way more hands-on than someone like Madonna. And to me her appeal lies more in her voice and songs than in the quirky production, though it is a definitely a great setting for her music. I won't claim to know for sure how her music is made - but i really do think she is very much involved with it's creation. |

This is the template created by plastic surgeon Marquardt, based on the golden ratio. Marquardt says this is beauty.
I remember seeing John Cleese as the presenter of the a BBC series about the human body, and Liz Hurley starred in that episode too. An overlay was done on a picture of Liz, and she matched it perfectly.
So let's all put this on top of one of our own pictures, and run to the surgeon for that much-needed nosejob.
About using the mask: BBC science. |

Michael Clarke-- You're probably right about her being more hands on. I havn't followed her career for years now. I have way more respect for her than I ever will for Madonna, so don't worry. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
