I've recently purchased a copy of Painter 8, and have started feeling my way around. Unfortunatly, I've gotten stuck. Something feels wrong, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Shading is also proving to be a problem.

Could somebody recommend a tool, medium, or tactic in fixing this? I'm not very good, and have very little experience -- any input or critique is appreciated.

(this is nowhere near finished)

Hey ya, as always feel free to kick me in the teeth.

I feel that this picture should not even have been painted yet. You havn't come to any satifactory conclusions with your drawing so you're having a difficult time with the painting. Also use references, its not a crime, especially when you're beginning. If you're having trouble understanding light n shadow, turn to drawing/painting simple geomatary and plants. Happy hunting...

Hmm, I liked the design, and I love the textures, but I agree with Al Ian, it's a little "flat"...it lacks volume. But there's still plenty of time to fix that.

I really suck with painter, so I don't really have any solid advice for you. Just wanted to say that I like where it's going and not to get discouraged. Smile

Thanks, Coldbook, I think you have hit the nail on the head. I didn't plan this out at all.

It's past due for a salvage appraisal, that's for sure.
