Matthew, I remember sitting down one evening with a glass of wine and a Sargent book when I was about 15. Never had any alcohol before, so maybe that had something to do with it, but ever since I think he has been my Grail.
I have never heard of the painters that you mentioned. If you have any, please post them. Flushy had a line on some good unknown art. Flushy? I just got a book from the library on some Australian impressionists from the 1900s Never heard of any of them, but they were very good, on par with their contemporaries elsewhere.
Paintangel, the knight is all PAINter. The car is all PS, the other, what was that? Oh the sammy-ri, that is painter with the rain added in PS.
yes I agree with fluo about stereophonix. Always know who did em.

Spooge, I saw the original of this painting by Johan Krouthn a couple of months ago, he made it 1883. (very bad version of the picture that I found on the internet though, the original is ten thousand times better) I am very inspired by Johan Krouthn and also and I guess you know of Albert Bierstadt, Bierstadts landscape paintings are amazing as what I think and I am very inspired by the work he was doing too.
Then we also have the other painters I was talking about earlier, P.S. Kroyer and Oscar Bjrk. We have a book in school with those painters and I hope maybe that I can borrow it tomorrow and then I will scan and show you guys tomorrow.
Johan Krouthn, 1883
another speedy from me
Im off to figure-drawing in about 2.5 hour, will see how that goes today.

Matthew and Spooge, I hope you don't mind if I get into your small game. As a rugby fan, I had to paint something about it, now the World Cup is nearly at its end...

idiran>> Advice? as for landscaping, you should either ask see, CaptFred, Ceenda, Mon, etc. As for the top one, Spooge, Wassup, Hpx, etc. would be your best bet. |

Hey fellow wacom junkies, how dark do you like your room to be when painting on the comp? Totally black? A little indirect light? Do you think it's really important to be able to "read" all the values all the way into the darkest tones? I saw on the spooge's site a photo of his studio in california with BIG open windows. Do you paint like that mr mullins?
I ask yall because my pictures look better in dark suroundings but I feel better having the blinds open. I dont want to be a vampire.
Anyone? Anyone?

meaty ogre: i like to work with at least one lightsource(which is a bright bulb in the evening). i can't speak for others but it's probably not good for both the eyes and the art to work in complete darkness(altough i do this too, regularly).
in daylight there's enough light in my room even with blinds closed.
Xia + Kenchan: are you guys following the same life drawing course? it's the same woman no? and you're allowed to paint digitally at life drawing? _________________ talent is overrated. |

I didn't like the way it turned out, so I hid it behind a photoshop layer effect (pin light).

I have been watching this thread off and on ever since the first version. I can always count on it for inspiration. I hope no one minds if I start contributing every now and then. I won't say on a regular basis simply because I am so damn slow.
As if you couldn't tell, that last one is more abandoned then finished. |

Yep, we are in the same session. And yes I paint digitally because I am simply a rookie and I suck bad. Someday I would prefer traditional medium of paint, have to accumulate my courage to start on that. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
