Based on Battle Angel Alita. It's still very rough. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

It's very hard to say anything about it, 'cause it's so unfinished.
If I woudn't have just checked your website, I would say that it lacks feeling and composition.. But now that I know that you are really good at this, I think you'll manage to make it look as gorgeous as your other works. |

Lol, I drew EXACTLY the same flying city on paper with pencil.. no jokes i mean EXACTLY... I am a big fan of flying cities and the idea of mixing ancient mythology/history/etc... with current tech/futuristic/sci-fi/etc... I like it very much _________________ Open your eyes... and see the world as it really is... |

wow, i hope it doesn't lose the clean feel in the completion process. But I agree with Crosswindstar: the idea itself is great, but that city is icing on the cake man. Can't wait to see the finished product! _________________ Live for a dream. Live in a dream. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. I haven't worked on this one too much more because, as someone mentioned, it's a little stiff, compositionally. I still want to do a painting of this subject, but I need to experiment with the composition a little to make it less boring.
Thanks again. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I did this fast paintover for you. Screwed up the colors thought.
As you see I just added some more cities and mountains.
And I changed the proportions.
I destroyed all the sclean shapes but maybe it will help you to find the correct composition.
Hope that's okay.
Anyway, the idea is great. I really like the image!
Keep it up |

I like it very much.
I recently read the manga, great story.
Max, your ideas are good, but it depicts a scene of the manga where there's only one city and I don't remember high terrains. However the image looks good =)
I'd add clouds to make the sky more appealing. Also the ground vehicles should add more detail and help the composition.
Great work, I'd like to see it finished =) _________________ "Ever forward, my darling wind." -Master Yuppa

Max, wow you are a Master with Terrain, me bows. :)
balistic, I would perhaps make a bird perspective of the whole painting and make the character look up to the city instead, I know this will ruin the big feeling about the character but as it is now the city looks like a small saucer, as what I think.
one more thing, I read about that you are un-employeed and such and I was that too a while ago (I am in a school now), it was a crazy time and during crazy times you have to keep the inspiration up. For me it was this forum that helped me and also the speed-painting thread. May I suggest that you join us in the speedy and make a speedy once a day, that way you keep the inspiration up and also keep the pen busy. It is always more fun to paint or draw something when you are gonna show it to someone.
Happy Halloween. :)
see you
