The rules of Draw Club:

. Each theme will last exactly one week.
. We're looking for an effort, not a 10 minute sketch.
. You are not limited to the digital media.
. Do not "reserve" your place, post an image only when you have something to post.
. Feedback is encouraged.
. Keep away from interpretations of an adult nature.
. Post as many times as you like.
. Have fun.

Draw Club #26: The Tree

A deceptively simple topic is The Tree, but some leaves attached to some branches attached to a trunk stuck in the ground will only give you A Tree. We want The Tree.

It would traditionally be at this juncture that I would explain what I mean by The Tree, but truth be told I have no idea. I just know it's not a regular tree. It's something more - something magical. But still a tree.

Good luck.

Duracel, it's pretty obvious you're doing best when it comes to drawing forrests 'n (green) landscapes... Seems to be your sort of bag, if I may so, at least at this point of time in your artistic career. It really shows again in your latest piece which also demonstrates serious improvements regarding your technique which result in convincing structures and depth. Keep it up.

L99Relm, that's a really cool concept, dude! /me digs

thx all

see, well, but the truth is there is no more detail as you can see - nothing more than a bit custom-brush-texture.

Flat, you're right, i dig those nature stuff. A tree here around, some water falling there playing with some nice rocks - Beauty.
But i also need improvement in industrial things need construction and dont have those natural irregularity if i want to get a job in the business sometimes. Wink I'll keep it up. This forum helps.

L99, looks good and interesting.
The things i miss a bit is the flow and 3dimensionality in the drawing.

Hey man, would you mind telling me a bit how you painted that ? You haven't add a lot of details yet, but I would like to understand how you, and others, paint this way digitally, since it's my very first day I paint with tablet/photoshop !

Thanks !

Ok this looks like crap, I know, but I'm absolutrly new to this. I was into lineart for as long as I can remember.

I tried out my wacom tablet I just got, for about one hour. This is the ugly 6-year old kid drawing I got out of it Smile

I just don't really know how to paint yet, I hope you don't mind me participating every week, cause it helps me I think. If you see some major flaws and all that, please let me know ! I'm seeing some serious errors with lightning just now .. oh well

hey folks nice trees =)

Picking colors is like pulling teeth in pshop, I have no idea of how you guys do it. Everything looks... off. I also tried some funky layer effects, texures, photooverlays etc... nothing worked Sad One day I'll nail it. I found the dual brushes thingy though! pretty sweet stuff.

Mon, click the little arrow on your palette thingy to set it to HSB sliders instead of the RGB spectrum. It's the best PS colour option I've found, but yeah - the Painter wheel is much better.

And in the tree spirit of sharing, a 6 year old Windows 95 Paintbrush disaster:
