It's good, but it could use more contrast on the face. I know you are reducing detail as the objects move further into the distance, and this works well for the tail, but I think the detail is lost a little too soon in the head. Perhaps you could add something in this to give a reference as to the scale of the creature? Right now I can tell it's huge, but no idea exactly how huge. Maybe add a ship in the distance or something? |

This is awesome, but not finished. You should put more texture on the dragon. Make it look old and worn, and I would love to see some moss and such on it, or at least some discoloration somewhere. Make it more organic essentially. Other than that it is perfect, just a matter of taste I guess. ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ It has been clinically proven that other people's pain IS funny. |

Sumaleth - Thanks!
Pete - Yeah, I considered it...briefly...and I totally see what you're saying. (A friend of mine made the same comment . ) I boosted the contrast in his face from what it was, and it definitely helped, but I'm not sure I want him to seem much closer. As to a ship, a lot of my goal with this piece was to preserve the original composition, and keep it as clutter-free as possible I think a ship (or other size-relationable object) would have added another focal point and detracted from the point of the piece, which is His Purple Mountains' Majesty here
dfacto - Yeah, I started to put more texture on his back and on his plates, but I probably should have taken that a bit further. Thought about adding in more moss along his back too, but for whatever reason, I did not. I'll keep it in mind for future pics though! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ -Krista

... very... very nice.
but im not a big fan of those little patches of green (algae i assume) they just dont seem to fit in with the colorscheme.
otherwise, great stuff...
keep it up ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |
