Greetings, well this is my first foray into horror. I am attempting to give it a more natural media look (still need more practice at that) which wasnt too hard for the background wall.
The lighting is coming from above as is she were standing under a manhole cover or something, so the light isnt from a direct small source like a bulb but from a larger more distant source.

Pretty cool final product, but I feel there are some anatomy issues to point out, mainly her arms.

take a look at how far your own elbows go down your body...now grab your breasts with your arms (or imaginary breasts a few inches in front of you) and notice the angle of your arms...you have her arms going straight down and then straight back up, which looks awkward, and they also appear to be a little too short. Also, her shoulders are a bit too wide for a woman, especially if you consider how narrow the hips are implied to be.

In a lighting related note, the stark contrast in lighting on both sides of her cape really gives it an odd effect (and I think her neck is a bit too thick). Notice how you shadowed the area on her shoulders beneath her cape, then look at how much darker the area above that is...it makes it look like 2 seperate pices..although now that I think about it...maybe that's supposed to be part of her cape on her neck...hmm..if so, it doesn't seem to stand out as such enough.

The hair could also use a little bit more tightening up.

You're definately on the right track though. I'm not putting you down, there are some really great things about this piece. I like the blood effects; the pool, her mouth, the stains on the wall, all nicely done. The bits on the hooks are also a nice touch.

Just keep plugging away at that anatomy. Smile

I agree with fukifino on most accounts but I'd like to also suggest that you make the blood appear less diluted/weak and transparent. Needs to be from a red-black color scale, and forget abuot using transparency effects allowed by the software but instead paint it on opaque trying to make it look, non-opaque/translucent 'manually'. I think it would work more effectively.

Dunno. just my first thought, when looking at this pic for the first time.

The blood and the characters lighting are all very paled. As a result this looks very pale and low contrasted. Its an incredible sketch, but it would be extremely more popular among the idiots of the internet if you contrasted the image a bit to bring out greater color differences.

If contrasting colors make lesser sketches from the Baroque so much more popular than superior works from the renaissance just think you what you could do to make this complete eye candy.

Okay, here is an updated version that reflects some of the recommended changes.
Here I used a dual brush that scattered the primary color (deep red) and the background color (black) to repaint the blood on her hands. Also, I widened her waist line a little (much further and she would have looked to have a Big bottom). In addition I have increased the contrast +20 saturation +10. Oh, I also narrowed the neck a little.
I have not done anything to the arms just yet, however, a photo-reference was used for most of the body minus the head and half her abdomen (hence the reason it was a little narrow), in the photo, only half the arms were visible but enough could be seen to figure out where the elbows were. Ill lengthen them anyway if two of you both agree that it should be longer.
