Hiya, i picked up a couple months old sketch and thought i'll try
finishing it. Any thoughs, problems. Concerning the mermaid, sorry
i know its a rough sketch. Any major problems?

her tail should be much longer ! And turn it the other way around !

Nothing more to say .. its hard to crit something unfinished.

The scene seems to take place deep in the ocean, where everything is dark and colors are muted, yet she seems to have a spotlight on her. I suggest unifying the foreground and background.

Here is a new test, darker more desaturated colors, longer tail again Smile

I'd add bluish colors to the mermaid to make her fit better.

I will add blueish hues to merge everything last, when the anathomy and details are fixed. Basicly its the postwork Smile

The unicorn has some more work until its done.

i found an image over corbis, maybe it helps you "shaping" the mermaid Very Happy

and just block first ... dont worry too much of lighting at the first steps

Wow, the background is looking great!! That shark is totally horrific, great job. Just one suggestion, the mermaid's colors should be less saturated and more bluish, since she's underwater.
