ive had my tablet for almost a year now, and after my computer crashed from that blackout (we fixed it tho) somethins been wierd. See, now my tablet kinda just switches itself off and i cant figure out why. Usually if i mess with th plug a bit i can turn it back on, but then all of a sudden my mouse doesint work!!! I used to be able to use both at the same time.

Right now its off, and i just dont get it cuz its plugged into my tower and everything! And then other times the little light in the top-middle of it is on but when i try to use the pen nothing happens!! Its like, wtf?! Does anyone no what to do??

Have you tried reloading the driver?

I don't know if you are using Mac or PC, but when I had my Wacom attached to my Win98 PC, the Wacom was always crapping out.

WinXP seems to be keeping the Wacom pretty well, but I think Mac OS X handles my Wacom the best. (Maybe I'm just burned by my bad experience with Win98. I'm not sure.)

well, i got win mellienium. not sure how good that works with wacoms, but like i said, it used to work fine for about six months straight until my cp crashed. That probably has somethin to do with it...but im not sure what exactly.

Never used Windows Me, but have heard bad things about it.

It is odd that the Wacom would work for 6 months and then have trouble. But I guess perhaps some new software conflicted with it, or a Windows update conflicted with it. I dunno.

Most problems like these are errors within the I/O. Since you had a black out it is very likely that you had a power surge as well and that can wreck havoc. In your case I don't think it did that much damage. What I would recommend is updating or reflashing your BIOS. This is the chip that is on your motherboard and it is responsible for all the startup and power on self test. It also handles the basic I/O.

I had something similar happen but with memory. I had a bad shutdown experience when I was working with windows 2000 and my motherboard would not recognize my awesome memory I have had for over a year. I thought the memory was toast. I took the memory into work and had it tested only to find it was ok. I reflashed my BIOS and everything was in working order again. That machine works great to this day.

ME is quite possibly the incarnation of satan on earth

its evil man...very very evil...

or BIOS...heck...go buy a new computer...that solves almost all problems, hehe

It could be your wacom.dat file being corrupted. Perhaps contacting Wacom and having the tech walk you thru clearing it out?

I had similar problems. Before I upgraded to XP, in Win98 the drivers would just turn off. I'd check them back on, no problem. But recently after the XP upgrade, the drivers would be on but nothing would respond. I'd get around that by wiggling the power cord, and then finally unplugging and plugging back in to get it started.

When I first called Wacom's customer service, I was told it was the PDA software for hot syncing between the PDA and desktop. Wacom suggested to go to manual instead of automatic with the PDA syncing. That worked for a bit but the problem began again. I called again and Wacom walked me thru the steps of clearing out the wacom.dat file. That cleared it up...until the next time it happened. Cleared out the wacom.dat file and again the tablet is behaving for now.

Best of luck!
