Hi!
This is a Photoshop painting I did about a month ago.
I used a photo reference for it. Took me about 6 hours
C&C are always welcome!

good work all around. My main crit is that you need to push you values a little further. the eye sockets need to be darker and the nose should be more defined with some deeper shadows and a little highlight on the nose. I realize that her face is facing away from the lightsouce but there would be a bit more reflected light on the dark side thatn you have done.
keep it up. and remember its ALL about the process, not the results. if you master the process the result will take care of itself. _________________ Gabe Eltaeb

Thnx for your comments.
Guy Incognito:
I didn't paintover the photo. Well but I have to admit that sometimes
I had to pick some colors from the reference. I'm trying to find out
the secret of lighting. My problem is to pick the right colors if you know
what I mean. So I began practicing painting with reference and choosing
the colors by myself. But sometimes I just can't find the right colors I hope
to be able to do that sometime.
here is the reference compared with my painting

As I thought. The head is smaller in your version.
That makes the body look too big/strong.
The way it is rendered is still amazing.
Even if you picked colors from the photo. |

yeah nice work ! But try to stay away from picking the colors as soon as possible ! But you already mentioned. I faced the same problem time ago. It was hard even if the reference photo was opened choosing the colors without picking them. But i like it cause you didnt loose yourself in too much details ... keep it up! |
