I've been wondering what happend to a lot of the regulars that used to come here including Dhabih.
I think a lot of people (Spooge, Loki to name a few) left for that Lunimental place. But I think this forum is better than that boring place and always will be!!!! |

What a pointless thread. Was your intent to simply start a big fight?
It's threads like this that cause the great artists to leave. Stop contributing to the problem and start becoming part of the solution. |

I agree with snarf, and in any case...
Spooge posts more often here than there.
Loki hasn't been seen much in either place. Most of the other members post in both places.

bah. shameless self advertisement there eh? Frankly, i think both have their strong points. Lumental is more controlled and moderatred... sijun is rampant and loose with noobs running all over the place - which makes for interesting stuff |

i dont think ill ever know if lumental is better because well its controlled and i cant post there. In a way if you go to lumentals you wont be disappointed with the art being posted ... |

Everything that gets posted there tends to be posted here. That might change if Lumental takes off I guess.

This is the only place a noob like me can mingle with greatness and learn. I think there should be a place for the serious artist to get together without noobies too, so in that respect each forum is providing a niche for different facets of the art community.
I'll have to check out Roundeye's highly publicized secret art forum too. |

To Snarf:
What are you talking about??? I contribute to Sijun all the time!!! I post art here I always comment on artwork that is posted when I'm signed on. As far as this thread causing somone to leave....I realy don't think so.
I just think that it sucks that MOST PEOPLE THAT SIGN UP for Lunamental get turned down and in retrospect you end up with a very selective group of artists posting but not to many commenting. It is also a fact that a lot of people stopped coming here when that forum was started.
For sombody that just wants to brows around Lunamental is great but for somebody that wants to post are get get crits, advise and even a little prase once in a while THIS PLACE IS GREAT and wouldn't it be great if it stayed that way.
If anybody agrees with me and I know some do feel free to say so.
Power to the people of Sijun!!!! |

" It is also a fact that a lot of people stopped coming here when that forum was started."
Yeah, that lasted for the first 2 months.
Sijun is getting better and better every day, except for some small occasion. |

I don't tell everyone I know about this place... I try and keep it underwraps.
I've seen many a place I love go down (rather have troubles) because of server overloads & costs (and I know this is meant to be hosted by one of Dhab's friends or something). So do sijun a favour and try and not spread the word about it... too much.
Or just send them all to lunimental instead!
haha... just a thought I had while reading this thread. Not related too much.

You would not believe how much better this forum would be and how many more people would post including old members if this place had good moderation and if people actually gave useful constrctive feedback and not just what ever flies out of there mouth without being checked by there brain.
We need more community projects like the speed painting thread
I admire the community at Lumental . There might no be a ton of posts( everyone is really busy who posts at that forum ) but when there are they are good and not what someone sketched up in 5 mins looking for praise, they also give good feedback and there are no trolls or " Amanda's " so that makes a big diffrence. I wish sijun was more like Lumental ( only with an open door policy and since nobody likes a good ole boys club ) but unfortunatly I don't ever see it happening if it hasn't happned yet |

Personally I think they're really good in their own quite obvious ways... I mean I really enjoy reading whatever is posted at lumental because you can be certain that there is thought, intelligence and knowledge behind the post. The comments given there are of a higher standard, and they may not go in for crits as much as we do here, but the suggestions are always of high caliber.
Whereas on sijun everybody's a critic which is both good and bad I guess... so you have a LOT more people, and you have a lot more point of views... and as they say, 6000+ heads is better than one... so it's interesting here as well....
And as for paintings on lumental not being posted here, I check both forums every day, and I don't think I've seen one painting that hasn't been posted on both forums.
So I think it's a good thing. Nice work frost and Snake.
And would people please try and keep in mind that just because these people have skills and are good at what they do, that doesn't mean they're obligated to post ANYWHERE... maybe they don't like it here, how in the world could you possibly have something to say about that? They're people just like you
and thus concludes my two cents =) |

Also, people don't take into account the circumstances under which Lumental was set up. In that week a number of the artists here had had enough and basically would have left. Things have since improved on Sijun, which in turn has meant things are quieter on Lumental.
strata has pretty much outlined what I was going to say, but the whole topic is just getting a little tired now. |

well, as a recent recruit, i can't bring up warm memories of sijun's heydays. but hey, this is the internet, if everyone hasn't forgotten. entropy is part of the package. that's not to say moderators do not make a difference, but unless you have a screening process like lumental, there will always be an element of troublemakers, and and element of noobs. i think i'd rather take the good with the bad, in the hope the latter will join the former, than exclude and select.

I forgot to mention that Epliloge and Digitalart.Org are also great places to look at and comment on cool artwork. |
