This is a production painting of the main character from a short film I'm working on entitled "Big Bang". I'm still working on it so any comments are welcome. I'm especially interested in C & C on my use of color. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to color and I've tried a use a pretty simple approach here. The character and planet are painted in Photoshop and the background is based on scans of watercolor strokes and splatters that were manipulated in After Effects.
And here's my second pass:
Still open to comments. _________________ Victor Navone

That's really great. He looks like playdoe or something like that.
Great shadings.
The front and the background are very different in style. As you said yourself. It makes the image look like it IS a piece of paper he has been placed in front of.
The 3 colours you have selected should more or less work fine togehter. But I think that especially the red is a bit off. Perhaps you should work a bit on it's hue/saturation.
great stuff _________________ Fear my SKETCH-FU!(tm) style |

its VERY good. i like it.. i jus thave something to say though. =).. he doesnt really look like he's looking at the star.. i think its because there should be a reflection of the star on the top right hand (his left) side of his eye. does that make sense? but take no offense of anything i say.. i saved this drawing into my personal gallery! he reminds me of cheese haha |

I love it Victor. It's clear, and fun. The only thing I might be wary of is whether or not some of the colors may "die" if you use it as a printed piece. But I certainly think it's a winner as eye catching.

so cute
I think lowering the red stripes in the background was a good call since it was too distracting- but it feels less alive and dynamic somehow- can't put my finger on it but it calls for more experimentation on the background's composition. Also, his right leg can probably be a little larger to accentuate the perspective. |
