Hey guys, I was looking into buying a tablet PC so I can do my digital art portable! Is this such a good idea? If so, what do you suggest I get?

They are ok for sketches I guess.
I'm not sure I got that right ... as far as I know the shared memory makes graphic stuff slow.
The resolution is too small for more advanced art.
I think the colors will only look right when the image is viewed from the correct angle.

About a month ago I bought a Fujitsu Stylistic with an outdoor viewable display. I've used it several times outdoors for sketching and have found that it does the trick for me. The Fujitsu's outdoor diplay is awesome. Believe it or not, it looks BEST in direct sunlight. Still useable, but not so hot in the shade on a sunny day. I'm used to using the Wacom Cintiq I've had for a year and a half or so, so the small-ish screen res isn't a big problem for me - 1024*768 suits me fine. The one drawback with the display is that it is very low saturation. I'm hoping there's a setting to boost the sat, but I haven't found it yet. I've found that Photoshop runs very well on it - it's almost as fast an responsive on the tablet PC as it is on my home PC. It's got a fairly decent battery life with the standard battery. It lasts longer than my buttocks do when I'm sitting on a park bench anyhow. Unfortunately, the Fujitsu is also wicked expensive. I worked my a** off to earn the money to buy it. Not everyone will think that the expense is worth it. So far I do. I comes everywhere with me every day.
I'm on a deadline crunch right now, but I'll post so sketches made with it as soon as I can.

I've been using it for tests in order to advice my company to buy them or not, and the answer has been clear: do not buy them yet. They are really slow, the OS has to be improved a lot yet, and the processor has too many tasks to attend to allow you to work efficiently.

I mean, a Tablet PC P4 is more or less as fast as a Pentium. Not as a Pentium 4, as a Pentium 1, the original. And I am talking about using spreadsheets, etc... nothing graphic intensive.
