Does someone know who did the special effects for the movie "independence day".
Or a link how they were created?

SpFX or Visual Effects ? Those things has different meanings.
SpFX is usually done while shooting the scene (explosion, car jumps, etc)
VFX is an f/x that is done digitally.

Yeah, those animations and VFX are definately solid cool alright although the movie itself has a standard alien invasion plot.
Anyway, If i'm not mistaken, the guys who are responsible for the f/x were:
Matte World Digital
Pacific Ocean Post
Digiscope
The Post Group
VisionArt
Pacific Ocean Post
OCS
Matte World Digital

One of the VFX supervisor was Volker Engel who supervised the VFX for Godzilla.
About the links, well i'm sure it's somewhere in the net, sorry
