Just wanted to share this good news with my sijun/eatpoo family:

Some of you know that I've been working on a CG short film, and I've been working towards becoming a director in my career path. I'm happy to say that after 12 years working in various creative jobs, I've finally gotten on the right track.

Last week, I said yes to Steven Stahlberg's invitation and flew to Optidigit in Malaysia with my wife to pay a visit. After a few meetings, I said yes to a job offer, and my short film "Promise" will now be an inhouse production at Optidigit, with me at the helm as writer/director/art director.

I've always been a firm believer in that if you are passionate and never give up, your dreams will come true. I'm glad I never gave up. For all the people that have encouraged me, given me feedback on the screenplay, or just have been a good pal--thanks for everything.

That is tremendous news!! My sincerest congratulations to you!! You speak very wisely concerning the pursuit of endeavors (I too went through the very same situtation many years ago and realized I had to do what is was to make things happen). There isn't anything that one cannot accomplish without endearing motivation and passion; the only real impedement to one's accomplishments is one's self. It's "not about the bike"!

May you be prosperous and serve as a shining example to others!!

Hip hip hooray! You da man!
Very Happy

Now comes the delicate task of casting, which I found to be to the toughest part when it came to making my short film.

You have no idea how many people will say no to "hey, wanna make a movie in my van?"

Your situation might be slightly different, though.

Congratulations, etc. Very Happy

Hey! That's fantastic news! I too am working my way toward directing, but I like to have my hand in so many other cookie jars, that I get somewhat sidetracked -- albeit related work. But I never forget where I want to end up. A good friend and I have a documentary proposal and book proposal in right now that we're waiting word on, so hopefully that will continue my progression as well.

It's very important, as you said, that we pursue our dreams no matter what obstacles come in our way. Right now, I'm striving to catch up with the bills and bring in more work, but I know a lot of big name directors/writers/artists have had the same struggle. I can totally sympathize with you on your journey and share in the excitement with your achievement.

It's also important to make a decision rather than waffle on things and never take that step that will lead you to the destination. You've done that. Congrats again!

Thanks!

Nope, I will own my film, but there will be some form of compromise and we're going to have o work out the details. There will probably be other stories of mine that ends up getting produced--and most likely with me as director too(TV series, feature films), so there will always be that compromise of ownership vs. control. It's always been like that for filmmakers, no?

Casting--heheh, we'll see about that. I'm sure I can get more than enough nublie hotties into my van. . .. LOL!

Godwin/Frost-- Yep, he's been there for a year now. His company, Optidigit, is located there--and that's why I'm going--he asked me to go work with him.

CwStone-- You can find out all about it here: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=47381
