hey yo folks. yeah, i'mma newbie here for posting. anyhow someone suggested that i post some art here, and at first i was like, "no way! they'll make fun of it!" and he was like, "dude, i'd just die if someone would take the time to respond to my post." so i guess i need to gain some more confidence Smile

a little summer project, i worked on it for about a month. i broke down and used a photo reference for the part in the hair, other than that it's just a free draw with the mouse on photoshop 6 and 7 half way through it. the color scheme and hair style change was partially inspired by linda bergkvist's "on saturdays" (yeah, i like her stuff Smile ) i know i probably shoulda did a study of faces before this, but i just wanted to see if i could still draw or if i should just give up and settle for some crayons and a coloring book, hehe.

c&c welcomed

here's the link to the small res

here's the link for the full res

I really like the figure, but the background and all the hard edges doesn't lend itself to my taste. Very nice expression, also.

well, I like it quite a bit. I think it's a fine job. I think maybe the background needs to be pushed further back, it's in such sharp focus right now that I feel like it's right against her back, like a tv screen or something. Other than that minor point ( Which could even be purposeful ), I think it's cool.

i think if i were confronted with this view irl, i'd be more scared of her than of the stuff behind her. she looks like she wouldnt think twice before pouncing on someone and ripping their throat out.
in other words, "gee, that's kinda cool" re the girl Very Happy

i'm afraid she doesn't quite match the background, though. she is all crisp-lined. the background is all fuzzy-lined (you could have been going for the "out-of-focus = far-away" effect, but then the planet and the meteors are the same distance away as the tree). so i think the tree is too fuzzy.

also, although the coloring within the outline of her shape is great (with a mouse? wow. i'm impressed), the outline of the (our) right shoulder is kinda odd, and same with the edge of the (our) left arm.

digging her little neck belt, btw Smile
