This is a my first attempt at trying to paint my g-friend Laura. First off I have to admit that I traced her profile from a photo I took of her.....I really wanted it to look like her....and was too afraid to just sketch it out....so I resorted to traceing her photo....then I just painted as normal.....

It's very brave of you to admit that you trace the profile...
I really like it... So, do you have the reference to show? I really would like to know how close the resemblence is...
Nice work! _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice!

Very nice!
I don't see anything wrong with tracing myself but I am just getting back into 2D and it's either that or the old grid reference for me. I hope that I someday can just put pen to paper and have a figure appear. |

Yeah, I know what you mean, especially since it's a drawing your girlfriend I'm always self-conscience about messing it up when I do her. But I've drawn her enough times that I can confindently draw her now. My lastest life drawings are of her--I'll post them soon.
Now, to your peice: I really like it! The colors are great, and I like the stroke work. Even though the profile is traced, I still think it was done well My only compaint is that maybe the highlights are a bit too bright, kind of giving the effect of being pressed against a scanner, like Sumaleth says. _________________ "So...remember, whenya put down one mutha, you puttun down muthas all ovah da worhl." - Mr. T |
