Mmm, 5..10 minutes maybe? Just value play. I really gotta learn more about mechanics, I wouldn't even know where to start doing a mech or bot, and I sorta wanted to throw a big spider head in this one somewhere. :]

I still overestimate my abilites and disapoint myself. Crying or Very sad I am simply unable to paint what/how I want. I think I'm too carried away in some particular unimportant aspect of the process and not enough into some other more important aspect... or seomthing Sad Pros: any ideas?

[EDIT:updated with larger image]

im not calling myselfe pro ...

when you have seen really a lot of things, and drew them, you have a more speedy way of getting the really important things. You are more secure of choosing colors. Even though the colors you choose may differ to those in reality. You unterstand which things can be left "unfinished" and which need more attention. Just keep on working, drawing and youl see

see: no, pro or not, I completely agree with waht you've said.. just a matter of time, practise.

tho i find pics like this a lot more rewarding, less how about how it should look and more about however the hell I WANT it. usually more enjoyable, tho i alwas forget that.
inspired by this guy.

Anthony - thank you, I really like your work too. :)

Snake Grunger - pretty impressive there, it looks like a 3d-render.

zhuzhu - Terminator 3 was very good, cool pictures.

viag - Wow, you should do a big poster out of that one. :)

Capt.Fred, I think you are doing good stuff and especially in your latest ones. I am never satisfied with my pictures either, there can always be improvement and yeah my anatomy could be one ton better.
But however it is also important to know and to learn how to make a picture interesting and also to learn how to simplify objects and materials. I know I was outside this early summer and tried to render a tree and it got all screwed up, I confused the tone values so I bought myself a book on how to do landscapes and also some anatomy books, I have learned a lot from those and especially when it comes to simplification, in speedys it is always good to simplify. For eg I just looked in an Art Magazine today and I saw a painting which was made by some artist, he had simplified the tree foliage to just 5 or 6 strokes with the brush and from a distance it looked like leafs, amazing stuff, cant remember the artist thou.
Anyway, sometimes more can be taught from a book or just by looking at another artist works, just look at the water duracel is doing and at the scenes pierre made and is making ( pierre where are you? :) ), I have learned a lot from that.
Also Spooges stroke-tecnique has always been very inspiring to me, especially when I looked at the tank tutorial, 3 strokes and all of a sudden Spooge had made 2 soldiers with Rifles, Amazing.
And Capt.Flushs Lighting tecnique and the simplification he is doing, which is the greatest. :)
Anyway enough of my Fan rambling. I dont think my opinion was a pro opinion either Capt.Fred but I hope some of my rambling helped you.
Anyway this is a little bit of how I see things at the moment, maybe some things will change maybe they wont, I know I have life-drawing class tomorrow thou so Spooge I wanna see some more of your wc-paintings to get some motivation. :)
Still thou and I forgot to say, observation is the most important thing and especially when it comes to faces, different lightings and watery areas. I think I have learned more when I started to observe instead of making my same errors all the time, and yeah critiques helps a lot too, Spooge, Capt.flush you guys have helped me so much, thank you guys. :)

Spooge, pierre, ChiaNi - where are you guys?

Didnt paint much last time, but here i am again ... just a first try with painter8 (usually i use Photoshop7), so im not as satisfied with the lighting situation, but i really like how Painter "smear" colors, as you can see especially in the sky. Smile

The gayest thing I've ever started to paint, I will never finish it, and I'll hopefully never think about it, agian.

If only I would've started with the nymphos intended in the finished image.
BARoNTiERi, nice colors. I like the broad strokes started on the feathers, which tool?

Duracel ... I know what you mean about painter (I use 6)

this one is for anyone who's ever read Tad William's 'Otherland'.

One of the villians, John Dread.

I love doing book fan art more than anything else, cause there's not a lot of visuals to go on, it's mostly internal.

Otherland is I think, next to Orson Scott Card's Ender books, the best SCI FI I've ever read. It blows all VR stuff I've ever read out of the water.
