Well Im trying to learn more about photoshop now so i can start working all teh line drawings I've made. My first atempt at doing it wasnt to bad, but i was told that useing lasso and lighten/darken was a no-no. so I decided to sit down and redo the picture totaly.
http://solsanctum.tripod.com/attempt.htm

This is a drawing of myself, its a simple picture. I didnt draw the rest of the body because i have a good idea for a homepage, and this is for part of the design i was thinkin of. teh picture on the left was the first attempt, and the picture on the right is my latest attempt, but im still workin on it.

any crits or comments are welcome, please tell me how i can improve the picture.

Thanks for your time

ok, the way the shadow of the collar on the left side drapes across the neck does not coincide with the shadow under the jawline above it. it makes it look like the light comes in from behind the guy and off to the left, but the shadow under the jawline wouldnt be there if that was where the light came from. Dont mean to be rude.

I actually like the way the hair was before. It needs some more detail but in the after image it looks more lifeless. It looks like flat brown with some strands thrown in.

I found it easier to explain what I see as wrong in the image by painting over. I hope you don't mind but if you do let me know and I'll remove this post.

Anyway, incorporate anything you like. I've tried to introduce a bit more shadow opposing the light to add more contrast to the face.
