I got the fever lately, and I started doing some watercolor sketches.. I pulled out an old pad, and there were some earlier sketches/paintings too, so I've put those up too(very few have seen them, so I wanted to share) here goes.
My dog was very patient while I finished this pic.. I had keep him from changing positions a few times; but I think he like the final painting; he tried to lick it!
Smoky the cat.. I have a lot of photos from travelling.. This is my girlfriend's( at the time) kitten. Im holding him.
This comes from old reference taken of a friend..I wanted to paint some drapery..
this was one of those pictures that I liked more close up..
I drew Ichiro 4 years ago in Japan. Lots of travellers and whatnot living in a community house.. I had just bought this pad and a watercolor set( I'm still using the same one's today) First time I used a lot of black in a picture.
I also drew Tracey around the same time, at the same place.. She's a Canuck( or Canadian in American English) Her far eye is a little wonky, yes? I mainly wanted to capture her red nose..( she was much cuter than my pic, just so you know)
Sachie was an amazing model.. We met at least 3 or 4 times.. This is the only good picture I produced from those meetings, but we had some cool coversations.
I just felt like sharing( sijun has some of the coolest artists around) and I felt like unplugging my hands, and getting away from the wacom for a little while.
Thanks for looking.

...wy use the word dump,Ric? I like them - booth the way you draw and your handle of the watercolours. Good work!
The picture your friend bending foreward is beautiful - femininity captured!
Tracey is a lovely portrait, really beautiful. I think though that the line of her left shoulder seems to fuse with the contour of her cheek. It makes me gaze their all the time and its a pity - perhaps you can fix it easily with a shadow...
With Sachie I admire you for the lines of her arms. _________________ Art has no key - it can always be improved. Therefor your work can never be finished. Take it as a challenge! |

These are really great riq. Thanks for sharing. Your potential is incredible, and I shudder to think what great works you'll produce in the future.
Bobuke: "The picture your friend bending foreward is beautiful - femininity captured!" You're just saying that cuz of the bust shot right? |

@"Critical Pete" I cant find the meaning of the word "cuz" ...but I think perhaps your way of understanding the word femininity reflect only to her breasts - for me there is so much moore that tells us all about femininity. I hope you understand what I mean - otherwise take a clooser look....
There is so much of beauty over this women - you can see she is proud in a very humble way. She is also totaly calm and shows no embarrasment over her bending foreward even though her huge bust makes the pose in a way defying! Anyhow I really think she impersonanates dignity. A lovely picture!
So go on, "riq" posting moore pictures showing women with dignity I look foreward to that there is such a dominance of women as pinups here at sijun - but I dont mind that either!
Nice with a little chat about what we mean really with our short comments!!

Hehehe... It's alright Bobuke, I was just joking. I agree that it is a very powerful piece and I think you expressed yourself very well. It would be nice to hear such comments/criticisms more often ( usually they are limited to art schools ).
btw, 'cuz' is just short for 'because'. |

Thanks for the comments everyone.( I think over the years, this is the stuff I really enjoy doing the most..)
I do plan to post more... I'm trying to do at least one painting a day.. And If I don't have much time, at least a color sketch.. ( I won't post my more crappy stuff tho'.. I already have one ) I think it' a very dignified pose too Bobuke( she was a natural model)
BTW Mon, I wish you would just put your wacom in the closet for a while( don't throw it away.. Dramatics are cool, but not practical) I love your stuff in the self portrait thread, and I'd love to see what you do with some real paints.
Later,
riq. |
