Ideas? That's your job! Wink
The crit that immediately comes to mind is that you need a consistant light source.

Heh... so true. Okay - ideas I've got.
I won't disagree with you on the light source suggestion either.
I'm usually better at watching out for it. I was trying somehow to pull off a light that was slightly below, and in front of our friend here. I think though that my natural tendency to do the 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock warm/cool combo slipped in there slightly.

i like the style and all that malarky so nothing to say is actually "wrong" or anything from my perspective.

however... ( Very Happy )... i think what your friend here lacks is some high definition and individual parts to his body etc. you've got a nice material effect overall, i just think it needs more defining, plus some extra bits on him just to kinda "divide" him up a bit. oo oo also, a little less black for the shades and more variety of tones, even if you stick to one colour, plenty of variants on a colour can make it a lot more interesting and adds some atmosphere.

other than that.... a better temporary (or permanent) background for him! when you put something into a location of sorts it can be easier to know where to go with your ideas etc.

hope that helps.

Well... I still have a lot to do, especially in the background and lighting area. But, I thought I would post another step to show what kind of progress is being made on it. I did change his face a bit, the expression needed to be updated pretty badly.

A closer look at the face.

The whole thing looks great with the texture and colour... ...all except that eye of his. Please tell me that you're drastically going to change it and that it's only in its infant stages, because honestly I don't see how you could do so well on the rest and so poorly on the eye. I'd make it less white, and look... well, more like the rest of image.

I agree with Pete. The eye's gotta go.
Sweet drawing, tho.
