This took a while, so I doubt if it counts as a speed painting, but here it is anyway.

American's that've taken over a nazi war machine (request by my brother). A little over an hour.

The right ear of my innocent mouse is almost broken because of this thread Wink

Pierre & Flushgarden, some friggin' impressive work there dudes! What are they feeding you swedes Laughing

Isric: The war machine pic is really good, the dude in the lower left corner is incredible, I wish all cel shading would look as good as that!

Prometheus, very nicely used strokes there, as always!

HPX, you never let me down Smile I hope that the hanging thing is tail.. haha

Meaty Ogre: The size and weight of those whales communicates really well in that pic.. just amazing!

Paintangel, like the painting but I would like to see stronger shading on the big forms.

Sear: less is more, definitely true here, great work!

Spooge, fantastic use of light as always, the lady is perhaps a bit too heavy on the leg department (right leg from her POV) btw. Congrats for the expose "thing" Wink I'll buy the book just to see the FF mattes printed in hires, maybe you could get your matrix pics in the art of Matrix 2 & 3 books, would be shame to not have chance to see them.

Oblagon, exactly what HPX said!

My favourite painting must be oDD's skeleton dude, there's just so much character in that guy! This is what he does 2 hours later when he's finally found his sword and is ready to break his bones hahah!

Sorry about the slow load on the image . . . since it is hard to see the brush strokes on a reduced version, I've end up putting the high-res version up there. Recently made another 15 more brushes in Painter, and have been experimenting with the painterly look and feel all week. I just got into painter, and I have to say that sometimes I like it better then photoshop, especially for quick layouts, and other conceptual ideas, etc. Or else I end up going back and forth . . .

Also looking at Sargent's work, I am truly amazed by his spectacular brush strokes, and his thinking process on being able to lay down such powerful work on canvas : )

Anyways, I wanted to try something totally different with this particular image, since most of my work is sci-fi related.

PS: little over an hour for this image . . . the most time I've spend was laying in the pose, and face . . . . I am also going to try painting this image on canvas sometime this month. It really helps me, going back and forth from digital to traditional media, and reverse . . . . I need a lot more paint mileage though: )

Have a great weekend everyone, great work in here : )

DXA

DXA: I think that came out great. I have also noticed that Painter's impasto brushes do not survive resize well.

@ littlejohn: great work on your site : ) Yes, I know about the resizing issue in painter . . . it is also really harder to paint at a higher dpi, for me at least (even though I have 2 gigs of ram on this Mac)

@ BARoNTiERi: great sketch . . .

Cicinimo - Your latest stuff rocks. :D

Bg - Cool that you are back in the speeding again, keep posting.
Also I love the tutorial with the beast of Burden you have on your site. :D

pierre - you are the magician. :D

Heres a fucked up Acrylic sketch from me, I should have diluted the colors in the yellow magic but I made full opacity acryl and it got totally screwed up ......huuuu, btw the speedys I made earlier inspired me to do a cape kind of monster ...hmmm.
Anyway, I should be back in the 500 thread after this one. :)

Keep it up dudes
Matthew

Wow, this thread exploded with a load more kickass stuff last night!

Baron: those samurais fucking own. So dynamic! My eyes are waiting for them to continue moving within your image. Great stuff!

HPX: Divine as always.

Isric: fuck yea. Dude, post more! You're one of Sijun's top talents.

Pato: very moody, very spooky. Great palette, lots of movement, nice composition. Kickass work.
