I've been feeling kind of lazy for the past 3 years, i need to improve.
The last courageous deed by me was uninstalling EverQuest after getting so addicted to it. But lately i've not been wanting to do anything at all... I have so many ideas but i dont realize them.
lazy bum i am --> help

PS: haha i just thought i'd post a funny poll too while i'm on the roll

When you can't create, then immerse yourself in other people's creativity(music, film, art, photography, literature..etc), and if that doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will.

Maybe take a long trip. Like, a month or more away--backpacking or something?

Maybe you have to let go of some of your ideas.

Stop thinking about what you should do ...
even more ideas = baaad Razz

Now start doing something ... small things.

Quote:
We change by the speed of the choices that we make

For motivation ... sing along to Disney Movies! Wink

Quote:
You must set your sights upon the heights
Don't be a mediocrity
Don't just wait and trust to fate
And say, that's how it's meant to be
It's up to you how far you go
If you don't try you'll never know
And so my lad as I've explained
Nothing ventured, nothing gained

*cough* Embarassed

Advice by AndyT ... better run for cover!

I know what you mean. I recently removed all my games (okay... Medal of Honor being the suspect) after having serious creative brain-farts.

One thing that helped me out was going camping for the weekend with some friends. Total seclusion from technology. It's great. Smile

Yay i didn't expect positive feedback Very Happy

Lunatique: yeah man, i'm actually going on vacation to Germany in a month, gonna visit a huge PC Gaming Convention, and a small breakdancing event Wink That's the only good thing to look forward to lately.
And i was indulging myself in tons of Chinese kungfu movies lately, and other movies.. until i moved back to my parents and now im on dialup again (if you know what i mean! ARRR).
I wonder if your loooong vacation helped you relax and start doing things with rejuvenated energy?

Drunken Monkey: i already am doing the dirty work for little money, so this can't motivate me lol

Max Kulich: well i had so many ideas in the last few years.. building and selling computers, learning breakdancing, selling web design, making a game or a mod, and now i'm at music production (hiphop) and graphics stage.. and honestly, i wanna stick to this idea, i just need to actually start DOING something!

AndyT: it took me long enough to realize that first you work on accomplishing small ideas, and then move on to bigger ones. At the beginning when i was trying to make mods for HL and even standalone game once, i was imagining how it would be etc. how i would lead a team of people.. blah blah blah, but not how to actually do any of it lol. I think by this time i have quite a bit of actual skill, but no will to work on it. Poo...

mannyp: i haven't played ANY games in the past year or so, it's awful. I used to be such a big gamer, and now i dont even have a will to play games. I used to kick everyone's ass at HL at highschool lan party.. honest!!! MOH was great too, but not on my slow-ass computer.

Hey, at least i try to go to the gym every day before work (not today though cause i had to reply to this post here.. hehe).

PS: You're not such bad people after all, sijun'ers. Very Happy

When I kinda can't start to do something I'll write down a list of all things I wanna do in the next weeks, days, hours whatever and then...
yeah, start doing the thing/idea which seems to be most appealing to me.
Just start - to get the ball rolling

I love kung fu movies...have you seen Seven Samurai - not kung fu but worth seeing it....

Games are medicine - try out some different videogames...what about some with a story - adventuregames,....or what about "resident evil" if you like horror (be aware of heart attacks),..a mix of all...not the typical firstpersonshooters.
buy gamecube xbox ps2 or whatever...it's worth it and you'll get motivated
at least that works for me after drawing, painting or working on different stuff for hours...

elam, im curious are you joking or are u serious. i saw that kind of stuff on emule and was wondering if they worth cheking out. I'm in control of my life and i'm happy with it, but if that book can make me even better, why not Smile

Flat: Very Happy i want a signed copy

as for shizo the best advice i can give you that worked for me is that noone here can do anything for you. You should stop whining. Only you are able to make something good with your life.

When i was studing i had philozophy classes and the teacher said somethin like that if a man doesn't do anything creative, if he just waits for the day to end he starts to act like a woman ! From my expirience it's true, most of those guys that got no hobby and watch tv all day are sad and they whine. stop being a pussy.

maybe write down all the things you want to do and every day pick one and make it till its done.

anyway have a nice day Smile

Think about your goals in life. What career you want, where you want to travel, how much money you want to make, all of that stuff. Think about all of the important stuff that you want to have accomplished 30 years from now. Then 15 years. Then 5. Write these down specifically. What should you be doing *right now* in order for *all* of these things to happen? I have written goals for the next three months as well.

Checking my list once a week or so keeps me motivated because I know that in order to do all of that I have to keep busy. I've lived without clear goals and motivation and it sucks. I'm never going back to being unmotivated and wandering through life. Never.

I honestly thought that it would be the first option everyone picks, but it looks like only you really hate me, faustgfx (well ok, you and GiantHamster who didn't look in this thread yet lol). You should post something like this too, it's heart-warming.

And to all: damn, something must have happened because i woke up a different man today.. I instantly sat at computer to work on a CD cover, ironed my clothes, bought some new kitchen stuff, and went to the gym where i worked out and went to a sauna Very Happy
Now i don't even feel depressed and actually wanna do stuff (WEEEEE!!!).
It could have been only 3 things:

1. The motivation i got from everyones' replies.
2. Flat's latest publishing
3. I shot myself and now i'm in heaven.

All i can say now is.. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee............

eat food.

Shizo, good for you (seriously).

If you do things for yourself, you'll have a greater sense of self-worth. Live to please yourself for a while. It isn't selfish if you've been living to please others for the majority of your life.

Have you considered therapy at all, or is that not within your financial means? Failing that, have you considered anti-depressants? Some people swear by them, while others feel they don't work. They're at least worth a shot.

To stay motivated, remind yourself that you only have one shot at life. Why waste a single minute of it wallowing in self-pity? There is a whole world out there to experience.

Lastly, don't isolate yourself. Talk to people. Phone friends, family, whatever. Try and stay as social as you can. Isolation is a common side-effect of depression that only prolongs the condition. Good luck, sincerely.

Suicide. The only answer. Do it. Kill yourself. The voices command it.

I went for the prostitute. I feel the same way um you did shizo but hey at least you have talent unlike this fucktard. I am a lazy bum and i know im the only one who can help myself. Think ill wait till ive finished uni, then worry. Anyway i leave you with this qoute from Donnie Darko.

"Son... DO YOU SEE THIS? This is an Anger Prisoner. A textbook example. DO YOU SEE THE FEAR, PEOPLE? This boy is scared to death of the truth. Son, it breaks my heart to say this, but I believe you are a very troubled and confused young man. I believe you are searching for answers in all the wrong places... "
