cool idea matt! Very Happy

here's a necromancer i made for an english project, it was a storybook called "the timesphere"!

matt: that orb looks sweet in the center there... such realistic tones...

spyro: that brickwork is amazing!

I was thinking the same thing about warcraft 3 when I saw the necromancer. This is a pretty neat thread idea...

Fun thread! Here's one I did awhile back. I called it "First Spell". Hey Mathew, how are your pics coming along for Mage Warfare?

Hey Tim, nice picture you have there. :)

The pictures are coming along pretty good, I have mostly put in some random monsters every now and then, thank you for asking. :)
Currently I am not working on any picture cause I thought I was gonna wait and see how the old ones would fit the new size and so on.

I like your stuff that you have contributed to Magewarfare. :)
Keep up the good work

Matthew: I like the first pic. Few crits: the base drawing's looks good, but I think the shading needs more thought. For example the face should be darker than the hands (hands are closer to the light source), some planes that aren't facing the lightsource have too bright values (the fingertips etc.), the dreamcast logo Wink thingies on the shoulders are too repetive.. you could make some bigger, some smaller. More emphasis on the eyes, that's the first thing people usually look at (even if they're in shadow, which isn't the case here). Contrast is a thing that drives attention, you should choose carefully where to put the contrast and where to lose it (fe. I would tone down the background a bit). The hands could use some tightening (I don't mean rendering), I mean the structure. The hairline is quite heavy in texture (a good rule of thumb is that never draw a line if it isn't needed, less is more) I find my writing confusing even to myself so I threw together this overpaint to make my crits clearer. As a final note, don't be afraid to play around with lighting, I was positively surprised to find so dramatic lighting in this painting. Once again the concept rocks and the image leaves quite a bit for imagination (is that hair she? or he is hanging from Smile )

Very nicely lit image you've got there, MCnasto!

Flat, that's quite hilarious!

Can't say much about this, actually I shouldn't be showing it at all... Cool (therefore the horrible quality)

Bg - I totally love it when you are over-painting, I can see what you mean with the lighting in my picture. I have played around with full opacity painting for a while now, something pierre inspired me to do. :)
With the hair I was thinking something that the magician was hooked up to something, what it is I dont know ...hehe.
Thank you for digging my concepts cause I have heard a lot of negative response about my latest pictures, thank you. :)
Also I dig your picture there Bg. :)

Keep it up dudes. :)

This is one I did for the portrait thread at the EBony Keep. The face is based off a picture of Redlily (her site is seafairy.com I think). About 10 hours in PS6. I thought this might work well in this thread.
