hi everyone, i'm goin around within the next couple days to give out my resume for a graphical design position and i thought i would put something on the cover to make em read it for sure!
this is what i came up with:
the design/graffiti thing in the middle says kuzmich,
i was tryin to do PS graffiti last night, and i screwed it up
so i chopped it up a bit with the lasso tool and came up with the structure base for the whole picture! i thought it was pretty cool
i would GREATLY appreciate any comments/crits on what i could do to make this any better... Thanks alot! _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |

Hi,
my totally honest opinion (i hope you searched for that) is:
try something different- different layout, different colors and different typo
sticking to a reduced set of colors might help.
you can search some composition info up at fineart.sk
if you feel you don't know how to put it together.
at the moment it looks quite unstructured..
lots of multi colored bright spots and some typo over and under-
arrangement of the elements seems a bit random. |

Well it's definately attention-grabbing. Not sure what you could change really... The guy at the top with the helmet looks scary though. |

You always want the focus of the design to be on the important information.
Right now the biggest focus is all the white lines. But the white lines aren't important. Knock them into the background, along with the different images. Either desaturate or darken them. Make it so at a 1 second glance what you see is your name and Art & Design, because 1 second is all you get. _________________ -\// /<- |

thanks for all your input guys!
after much editing i came up with these:
i can't decide whether to include my signature template or not...
i tried to cool off most of the colors with a dark green/blue/black tint, and make my name and signature the most important eye-catching aspects of this image...
the important info is easy to see and clear, and the new tinting and word locations do not take away from the background pictures.
thanks alot, and i would greatly appreciate any further c&c! _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |

The new ones already look better than the first version.
The one thing that bothers me most is the scary face that has already been mentioned.
It's a cover that would get my attention but not in a positive way.
There's just too much going on.
And I think the white font shouldn't be that blurry. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

hmmm... y does no one like the scary face? haha...
its just a kid with a chainsaw! wats to be scared of?
i know that there is quite a bit going on, but i wanted a way to include a variety of my works in my resume without giving out portfolios to everyone and not getting them back if i didnt get hired... so its kinda like a mini-portfolio.
in my resume i do say that a portfolio is available upon request, so i don't think that i would consider this really a cover page, more of a sheet included that showcases some of my abilities.
ill tweak it, and post again... thanks andy!
in the meantime, more opinions are more than welcome ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |

i think instead of havin the kid wit da chainsaw as ur focus, have the 3d-cg guy that looks like harry potter be the focus cuz i think that he (if u created it, which im sure u did) is more impressive than the chainsaw boy. _________________ -Chase |

Hey I kind of liked the first design better.
I made a filter fix with that picture and inverted the picture to show you another approach of the design.
I will remove it if you dont want me to post it.
see you

btw matt, how did you create that?
what filters etc?
looks like glowing edges with a brown tint or aged newpaper effect _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |

I agree with CwStone. The chainsaw kid doesn't deserve that much attention.
And I'm not sure about the Draw Club image.
I think it's ok if you give proper credits in your portfolio ...
but if you want the image as a mini-portfolio you shouldn't include the image like that IMO.
Sure you can put a lot into it but organize it better. Lead the eye through the image.
Think more about how to make the design work.
The images still look like secondary stuff. _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

Hey
I am glad you liked it. :)
I had to redo the process cause I couldnt remember the steps, now let me see.
First:
*Desaturate
*Accented edges with the settings, Edge Width 2, Edge Brightness 20, Smothness 2.
*Invert
And then you play around with the Brightness and contrast and make the picture more dark. After that you play around with the color balance you wanna have and in the end you can add a Sharpen filter to make the picture more detailed.
Keep rocking. :)

hahah.. cwstone, that harry potter guy is me! ... well, back in january anyways. and he wasnt cg... i drew him in PS. (ill take that as a compliment)
anyhoo... im resizing and puttin the chainsaw kid somewhere with less impact, keeping the "harry-potter" self portrait where its at, and adding a new batch of images to that spot where the kid was... then im gonna do something similar to matt's idea.. ( the more i look at it, the more i love it)
oh, and ill either get rid of the draw club image or credit seb in my portfolio ...
ill post the next attempt when im done it later tonight... gotta go to the bar! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) _________________ "Man! I just noticed that I write a lot of fragment sandwiches!" |
