Yep, this is really old stuff. I composed these during the early to mid 90's.

All these were done on a Roland D-10, with a 2 track sequencer. I had to record 2 tracks, then bounce one over to free up a track. Of course that means once I bounced a track, I can no longer undo it or edit it in anyway. Believe me, that was FRUSTRATING.

The D-10 had 8 channel multi-timbral, so I could have 8 instruments going at the same time. BUT, the D-10 also had limited voice, so if I had too many notes going, sounds would cut out. If that happened, I had to go in and edit the more sophisticated sounds and make them simpler(but also sounded much "thinner"). I learned to work around my setup's limitations.

The D-10 also had a built in drum machine, so I did all of my own drum programming. I learned to pitch bend the entire drum channel so I could make more interesting drum sounds that way.

I had to "input" the sounds by recording them in real time. I never took any lessons, and can't even read music, but I trained myself to play the keyboard so I can perform what I heard in my head, from chord progressions, melodies, industrial style bass lines, to techno 16th note bleeps). I went out and bought books on music theory and asked other musicians to enlighten me whenever possible.

Anyway, these are totally dated(and possibly cheesy as well), especially the D-10 had REALLY LAME sounds, so don't laugh too hard. I decided to unveil these since I've started composing music again with my new Triton LE Workstation after not making any music for almost 4 years. My new stuff should blow these out of the water, but these are fun for a few laughs. Kinda my way of letting them go. R.I.P.

Here are some of them:

Enchanted
This one is me trying to do something that sounded ethereal. I love having 32 note snare rolls in my drum track in the end every fourth measure in the last few beats. However, programming those snare rolls in real time is a friggin' nightmare.

Funky Blues
This one is me trying to use the blues scale to play some funky brass stuff.

This is one of the very few times I tortured people with my singing. I had a cold during the recording, but I had to do it that day(I was using someone's else's 8 track that I borrowed). I played all the guitars for this song(one crappy classical guitar, one Ovation piece of crap acoustic, and one Fender Strat with Chorus effect), and did the drums and bass on the D-10

Looming
This one is kinda industrial/techno weirdness.

Passion
This is me trying to be passionate with a piece I wrote for the guitar, but performed on the D-10

Jazzvibe
This is me trying very hard to learn jazz improv solo playing.

Betrayal
Longing
These are me trying to do dark and depressing music.

Blue Moon Rising
This is me trying to be exotic.

X-Files- Released
This is me trying to take the X-Files theme and do my own stuff with it.

Midnight Conversation
This is me trying to do night time music.

Brassed
This is me trying to do funky brass section.

This is me trying to do happy house music.

Happy Electricity
This is me trying to do happy anime music.

Lonely Christmas
This is me feeling very lonely one Christmas evening.

Decline
Rainstorm (Vocal Version)
These are songs I wrote for pop singers in Taiwan. Rainstorm was used for Woo Chi-Long's 1995 album. The vocalist is a good friend of mine, Sharon.

Rainstorm (Kararoke Version)
And for you to sing along with, here's the Karaoke version!

They're light because my equipment sucked. It couldn't produce any menacing sounds at all. Plus, I was into a lot of jazz/pop/new age back then, even though I also was into industrial and techno.

Wait till I post some tracks done with the Triton LE. The new stuff will sound very different.
