Ok, my friend asked me to draw a tattoo design for him, he wanted, verbatum :"F***ed up and scary" So I got started and ended up with the picture below.. now I seriously doubt he's going to put this on himself, so I'm not really sure where to tuck this design since I like it too much to just stop here...
I had this thought, just the way its drawn, all the segments are separate and the view angle is straight down, so It'd be real easy to make an animation... SO, I thought, if someone made another design of an insect (???) or whatever... we could make an animation of the two fight, that'd be kinda interesting, but thats just an idea...

I know about the symmetry issues here and there, but I like it like this so far

tell me what you think

best regards,
liquid1

P.S> and yeah, this thing is supposed to have mud as its habitat, sort of crawl in there. Carnivorous too Smile)))

Hey

I like it so far too but as you said there are some symmetry issues which I think are pretty important in a tattoo, I am not a tattoo expert but I guess they wanna have a clean nice design on their skin.
If you are gonna do some more tattoo try to make just one half of the tattoo straight up and down on the canvas and then you can copy the half and mirror the copied half, that way you get a nice symmetry and after that you can twist the design or bend or whatever.
Maybe you knew about this but I wanted to help you out and also make a comment in your thread. :)

Still the design is very cool.
Keep it up
Matthew

Nice idea for a tattoo.
I have made some designs my self too. One thing i have discovered to be boring in a tattoo, if there isnt much changes in the widths of lines.

Nowadays, tribal patterns are quite in. I thinks this one is sort of a tribal pattern. In this kinda pictures, its important to have lots of different thicknesses in lines. Imo.

(man, this is harder to explain than i expected. hope you get the idea.)

But but but...still looks a very cool tattoo. o)

Thanks a lot for your replies!!!

Matthew: I thought about that right after I made the body curve Smile)))) But its all good, I can fix it up like this... and I didn't use canvas, drew this one with a 'marble' mouse Smile)))))))))

noxi: I really wanted to stay on the edge between an insect and a pattern, so I didn't really make it too tribalish..

All in all I decided to fix up the symmetry a little bit and then... work on the motion sequence, i want to make an animartion out of it,, kinda challenging

best regards,
liquid1

As a tattoo apprentice, one thing I would have to say is that the separations between the segments is too small. The space between each black element needs to be around 1/8 " to prevent "running together" as the tattoo ages.
