Hi, I'm the new kid in town and I would like to introduce myself...I've been registered here once before but never used this forum to my advantage...I live in Washington but spent the majority of my life in South Korea and Hawaii...I have subjected myself to the art-filled communities that surround me but avoided displaying my creations because of my lack of self-confidence...I died around a year and half ago...I conformed with other college-seeking students, in hopes of attending a university I have desired...Well life's a bitch and now I'm here with almost a transfer degree, loss of art stability, and uncertain decisions concerning the future. Fortunantly, Art and Music have always been with me which now brings us back to why I registered at this forum...can someone please tell me how to display a Jpeg or something off of my hard drive? nice meeting you |

ahem... wrong section for starters i think but nevermind, as for the jpeg off hard drive question, you have to upload to a host like homestead or freewebs or something (freewebs is probably good for you) and then put img tags on the url of where you put the uploaded image when you want to post it.
p.s. that might have been a bit more of an introduction than necessary, i don't think people here are that bothered about the person and more just seeing a variety of art styles etc... but thats just my opinion. anyway welcome again. _________________

uhm.. what he said.
easiest is to create an account with some web space provider like geocities.com or the likes.
if you insist on displaying images off your hard drive, you have to realize first that your computer must be always on and always connected to the internet so whenever someone requests the jpeg for viewing your computer will be able to serve it. if you still want to do it this way, you have to have a constant ip address. that's the ip you are given by your internet service provider. if you dont have a constant ip address you can subscribe to a dns service provider and then forwars a domain name to your dynamic ip address. you have to do all this in order to give us a link which is a constant string to the location of the file on your hard drive. if your ip (computer address on the internet) changes, you cant give us a constant one, now can ya. on top of all this, your computer needs to be able to function as a web server. if you have windows you need to install IIS internet information service to be able to function as a webserver.
hope this helps. if not then just make an account with a webspace host like geocities. |
