Yeah 8-bit nintendo was great wasn't it?
But if you got a dreamcast, you could burn all the nintendo games ever made on one cd and play it with a decent controller, and it would take a few more cds, but you could get every super nintendo game on there too, along with sega genesis and then of course actual dreamcast games... And it's so inexpensive.
Capt. Fred: They're not that similar... Using each is a totally different experience. Unless your red car is a Ferrari and your blue car is a PT Cruiser, I don't see how your analogy could work. |

Pete: when I say similar I mean it in its broadest sense. in perspective, with all the different ways of potentially using computers for the benefit for the benefit of us. I mean, like you got the menu interface of mobile phones and bank ATMs and you got commadn line interfaces and purely aidio interfaces, and then you got grahical obviously, and within that, you have WIMP interfaces and within that you got macOS and Windows OS botyh whihc use the same metaphor of 'desktop' icons of 'folders' and 'files' and scroll bars and can transfer files betweent them.
And wiht type X computer you have these pros and these cons and with type Y computer, you have these pros and these cons. I mean, they're just the same and only slightly differnet. There are advantages to both platforms, equaly there are disadvantages, hence they both exist. If macs were worse in every respect they would not exist, likewise if Windows PCs were worse in every respect then they wouldn't exist either becuase theere would be no reason to own one, hence no reason to make any.
It's just two options wth different strenghts and weeknesses and you take your pick according to the scenario you find yourself in and your wants and needs, and tastes. it's petty to hate and attack one platform or the other and it does little good.
I mean, I don't HATE fax machines even tho, using e-mail might be superior in most respects. It's just an option I don't pic, and not somethig worth my hate. Nor would I jump on any one who chooses this option which I consider to be infereior to my choice. (I am not likening a Windows pc to email and a mac to a fax machine, I'm just using the fax/email as two differnt options with advatages and drawbacks.)
Cor this went on a bit hehehe |

Hey dudes (and dudettes)
chill.
I own both. Mac's are nice to use...and Hamster you're kidding yourself if you think PC's are the be all and end all. XP ain't bad, but neither is OSX.
How about being able to boot your lappy up into firewire harddrive mode and plug it straight into the Mac desktop as another harddrive. Pretty bloody cool if you ask me. I'm yet to find hardware that is as long lasting as Mac hardware also, so that's where some of the cost lies.
Most of us Mac owners just got sick and tired of having PC's that died in the ass every 45 mins. As a gamer however, I wouldn't have a Mac desktop as a primary machine. Not enough games.
Mac's do hardware better. Maybe not faster, but better. Their OS is more intuitive, easier to use. Oh, if you use Mac's so much why don't you use the CD eject button on the keyboard?
But back to my original comment...
Chill. Buy both. |

doesnt anyone know that macs are developed for the sole purpose of having cool slick computers on movie scenes.
picture this: kid from a low-socioeconomic family at his small house in queens. they barely have food in the fridge, but for computer, he HAS to have a cool shiny mac laptop with wireless internet and whatever else. why are there only macs in flicks??
pc's dont exist in flicks. only macs. its sick |

oh yeah, i just remembered. i once saw a movie or a sitcom where this ordinary kid had for his family computer a silicon graphics workstation.
(DELL's are expensive)
why cant there be normal computers in movies. you know, like a regular 15 bucks miditower with that half golf ball for a power button.
plus, they always have to have weird operating systems on computers in movies. and the characters, they always know the top secret passwords and get immidiate access. "ooo.. the password must be ozbekistan typed backwards. ACCESS GRANTED"
(ok. back to studying..) |

2. the slice of dog feces equalls the Mac OS which is vile, disgusting, and can not be changed(right?) just like a piece of dog shit. On a pc: you have a choice to have what os you want and how. Mac's OS is also very sleek and smooth looking like the surfaces of a piece of liquidy dog shit. they are very similar. |
Actually, you can run Linux on a Mac. I've no idea how it runs, though. |

But my favorite is to throw the mac on the floor and run on it myself. Well, I guess it's more like stomping. |

MAn I frickin' hate the standard one-button mouse thing on Macs. That and the sucky font at the top bar. Those are really my only big beefs with the platform. Oh wait, there's also the eternity it takes for most software to be ported to them.
I know that you can get two-button mice for your mac, but getting all your programs to do something useful with that second button . .
Well, anyway,m everyone's moving back to unix, so we'll have lots of LILO and /etc/password goodness going on soon enough. |

DMN: Now, you're saying it's the first 64-bit desktop machine. But isn't there an Opteron dual-processor machine? It shipped on June 4th. BOXX Technologies shipped it. It has an Opteron 244 in it.
Rubinstein: Uh...
Akrout: It's not a desktop.
DMN: That's a desktop unit.
Akrout: It depends on what you call a desktop, now. These From a full desktop per se, this is the first one. I don't know how you really distinguish the other one as a desktop.
DMN: Well, it's a dual processor desktop machine, just like that one.
Akrout: It's not 64, then.
DMN: Yes, it's a 64-bit machine with two Opteron chips in it. It started shipping June 4th.
Akrout: That we'll double check, but in my mind, it wasn't. _________________ Join Roundeye SECRET art forum shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! |
