This is a quick sketch for a background ... but somehow it doesn't work.
What's wrong? What could I change?
It's supposed to be a strip show in a club!
(I have to do it! It's for the 500 List ) _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org

hehe, i'll have to see the girl first to say anything..i would say what i think BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE as a strip club guy ... are the 2 lights on the right table lights? lights that comes straight down to the tables... i would think that they should be lower.. the stage usually comes out too so guys can gather around...

i couldnt figure out what made it look kinda weird... maybe if u can show a vanishing point for the whole room. it'd look a little more correct... but i'm just saying in my opinion =) |

Thanks for your reply vanishing!
I think it's still hard to figure out what all the stuff is supposed to be.
My quick sketches are always too sketchy
Your "stage coming out" idea is great! First I didn't get it ... but the image did help!
I think I'll go for it. Thanks!
The lights are supposed to be above the audience (that's what it looked like to me)
... or on the wall! (that's how it was supposed to look)
And now I guess they should hang above tables ... and lower.
I guess the crowd would never be lit like that though.
But I want subtle lighting as in:
this image
First I wanted the crowd to be lit like the ground in
this image
But I guess the heads would never reflect light like that.
So I'm looking at "Club Crowd" reference images now ...
but the lighting is never subtle enough
[edit]
Is this concept better?
And the question in the image again: keep it or not?

I think the concept is better. As for the question of whether to keep the poles... Put some girls swinging the poles and whatnot and then ask again. |

i think the lighting is fine and doable.. but the stage seems a little "low" or the crowd in the back is standing.. the tables of the guest is usually lower than the stage... the pole there is ok i think... |

I just realized how important the brightness setting of the monitor is.
Ok this is the background I'm gonna use if there are no replies tomorrow.
vanishing: I hope the table looks lower and the stage higher?
I tried to pull it of in this image ... don't know if I succeeded!
Thanks again ... good to hear advice by an "expert"
Critical Pete: Well it's just a sketch and just for the background.
But I see your point. As somebody else said about the view: no exotic tilting without exotic dancers.
So I get that it's not easy to say anything without knowing what the exact plan is.
I'll try to do the pole justice ... hehe! Thanks for your reply! _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

it looks GREAT! the only eye sore for me now is the table... it should show up more as a oval since we are looking at the stage at a angle... the table should have a angle closer to the stage.. and not direct side view of it... but good job andy.. it looks much better than the first draft! |

I knew I wouldn't be able to draw interesting strippers ...
And somehow I screwed up the perspective
I'll completely redo the closest girl. Even closer and with a more dynamic (spelling?) pose.
Then I'll add shadows on the stage ...
Should there be any other big changes before I finish the painting?
[edit]
How is that concept?

The last one is great. Only minor things that I can see would be to make the pole on the right narrower, or taller ( depending on whether it is more in front or behind ) and to shrink the heads of the crowd in the background. I like the reflections on the ground from the lights. |
