Hello! I'm interested in getting high education in United States (I mean art education). I don't know pretty much about higher education in the USA, so if you have any advices - what to choose (and especially what _not to choose_), I'd be very thankfull (East coast is preferable).
How much it would cost a year?
Another question is "what is the name of speciality should I choose to get general drawning/painting knowledge, but then specialize in game industry?" _________________ This is your life. Doesn't get any better than this |

depends on what you want to do. Avoid Fine Art colleges if you want to illustration/concept art..
And expense is depending on where you'd want to go state wise.. NY State (SUNY) schools aren't too bad, mine was 7,000 for just the classes
+ room/board and food made it at 17thou a year.. .. there was a college in maryland I wanted to go to that was err.. 25thou a year, i believe.
they hated illustration, thought it was selling out (it was a fine art school..) _________________ fallenlights | shiftingdreams |

There are special schools for Game design/Art/programing like 'Digipan' in Redmond, Washington [west coast]. If your interested in Video games I would take that route. Most art schools are a waste, unless you plan to study Fine Arts. Just pick up some drawing/painting classes at a community college or local University on the side. Trust me, the school isn't what makes you, its the artist that you are. If your worried about "connections", then after you get your degree, then apply to an "expensive school" and get an internship your first semester. Then you can drop out of the school and get right to working..... _________________ It takes a big man to cry. It takes an even bigger man to laugh at that Man. -J.Handy

What do you want to study specifically??
A school that is pretty prestigious is School of Visual Art in NYC...i take it you are into Digital Illustration, so that wouldn't be a bad school to check out... |

Really I'm interested in concept art for video games/game art illustration maybe 3D and animation for video games and everything related. Not sure which one. I think, that I need perfect drawning skills to be able operate in every of that.
I got techical degree (bachelor) in Russia but now want to specialize in drawning for games. As I could see, the main difference between education in Russia and US is that in Russia I got very wide range of knowledge, which allows me to operate in different fields. But American education gives very specialized education. So that it's pretty hard for me to choose the name of speciality. ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) _________________ This is your life. Doesn't get any better than this |
