Wow, a friend of mine showed me www.digitalblasphemy.com and needless to say I'm quite amazed. Being an artist myself I'm now hooked on trying out this new medium!

So, where should I start; program wise, tutorials etc.

Start by experimenting with anything. start anywhere and find a way in that suits you, try things and experiment. you don't wanna start in somone elses footsteps.

This part is the fun bit where you are now: the dsicovery of something new and fun, and versatile -- highly adaptable etc..

Hrmm, I really like DB's look. Is most of that stuff computer generated? I'm not the worlds best artist, and I dont have a wacom yet =(

What are my avenues if i want to stay pure digi right now?

I would have to say that a WACOM is essential! Especially now that you can pick one up for under $100! As far as getting to that level of art work, practice! practice! practice! You can't build rome in a day, so take your time, and have fun learning. The best way to go [as I have found] is by looking into work you like that you have seen from others. Pick up some digital art programs [the WACOM comes with a LE version of Paint Shop Pro i think] and imitate! Try to make it look exactly like what you are trying to draw. and experiment with all the settings. By doing that you will not only learn techniques, but will also develop you own style! And that is what is important in the end! Gd Luck-

I heard the 4x5 wacoms were a waste of money, and I'd like to just save up and get a 9x12, atleast the size of a sheet of paper!

Different people like different sizes. I've heard of many people that are quite happy with their 4x5. For me, it's a bit small, but if you have a small stroke, it should work just fine.

A Wacom is vital only if you wish to use sketching as a premise for your art. Art on Digitalblasphamy is all 3D, so a wacom would be worthless if you wanted to learn to create such art. Painters often tend to view their art as the only true form of art (digital or otherwise) dispite the fact that painting is a loosing marketshare compared to 3D.

Anyways, I am primarily just a symetrical design artist. So, my I find my Wacom to be mostly worthless (I do use it about 2% of the time) compared to Photoshop's selection tool and alpha channel feature.

Just keep in mind that not all digital art is the same or even created in any sort of similar manner. Anybody who tells you such is a self-absorbed idiot.

I needed a quick cheap way to get a graphics tablet because I just wanted to try one. so I bought one off e-bay for 13$ it's probably the worst tablet ever but it's alot better than trying to use the mouse, (which reminds me of trying to draw with a brick). Mine is a 8 by 9 inch pablo with a bump in the middle, very little pressure sensitivity and a wire tied to the end of the pen. atleast it was cheap and convinced me to start saving for a nicer one.
