heya. for the past hour ive been trying to get the perspective on her shoulder right, without success. she is turned a bit away from us with that shoulder as you can see. i dont know at what angel the collar bone should be and where it should be or if it should be there at all from this point of view and the shoulder being cropped out to this extent.
any help will be much appreciated, including comments, paint-overs, suggestions, instructions, thoughts, etc. im clueless!
i dont mind making the image longer, so you can extend it further down if you paint over it if that helps getting the point through.
thanks.

It kind of depends on the way that you want her to be standing, but I think that her shoulder shouldn't be so visible as it is right now. It also has too much of a curve to it I think.
The best thing I could do for you right now would be to give you advice to look up some images for reference.
Here are some images that may help you.

There are a ton more images in there to look through if you can find one better. I was just looking through some random galleries to find those.
Here is the address. http://www.fashion.tripnet.se/models.htm
The thing that bothers me more than her shoulder though is her left eye, it's not looking in the same direction that the other is. Maybe it's her right eye though, it all depends on where you intended her to be looking. |

thanks for the feedback and for the effort in finding those pics for me, absent minded abe. i appreciate it.
i looked into these and some others, but i cant find the exact same angle. i think ill just sit infront of a mirror in that position and try to outline it. sounds stupid, but it might just work. |

hey i think i remember the thread where u posted another WIP of this one. I dont really think theres much wrong with the shoulder. I suggest to just sharpen it up a bit and call it a day - i think the biggest problem is the eye thing - though even that isnt that noticable. _________________ -Chase |

Tell me how this looks:

That looks a bit more natural to me, I hope you dont mind me 'scratchin up'
the image, but let me know [[email protected]] when you took a look at it, so I can take it off my site! -THNX
ITs always best to construct skeletons [or wire frames] of people when you draw them to keep perspective, either that, or draw on a bigger media, then crop image down. There is a tendancy , that when you draw, you skew perspective as you get closer to the edge of the paper. Otherwise, Image looks AWESOME!

I agree with the above...It helps to have a more general overview of what you're working on in these cases. Try sketching out the whole upper to get an idea of where the shoulder would most naturally be placed.
Keep in mind that the head could be in that pose for various different torso positions since then neck is such a flexible thing.
just one of many possible positions for the shoulder
one more thing - i suck at proportions so the head was probably made a bit too big there _________________ It's nice to be important, but more important to be nice - Scooter |
