The GeForce is finally coming out, as of today I know at list one board is being sold. For those of you who don't know, the Geforce IS the best graphics board now available for personal users. Those of you who already know that......Which board are you planning to buy?

You're talking about the Detonator Drivers - which are the latest and greatest for any TNT card made by CL. Then, the Unified Drivers were made to give a glide port to TNT cards. I've heard that CL has used TNT2 drivers with their new GeForce card, I wonder if they'll release Unified Drivers for it, or if the unified drivers now will work with it?
I think the new CL GeForce board comes out the 27 this month!! $250+ |

There are better high end graphics cards out there. BUT - for workstations and big, big, big graphic companies.
The GeForce is the first GPU - graphic proccessing unit. There is no other card better for gamers. 3dfx can try with texture compressions and other crap - but even Matrox are better than 3dfx |

I heard that they are useing the Ge Force technology to make a .22 micron chip for the tnt2 ultra, which will increase preformance and lower cost. This is where i will be puting my money. Ge Force will be way too much$$$$$. I have a 16 meg Banshee
Bring on the $120 TNT2 ultra!!!
Peace.

Screw all ya guys, 'cause I'm just waiting for the new voodoo4 card! Don't care what anybody sez, if you want pure speed and compatability go for voodoo. Well, actually I could imagine myself bying any new 3d-card just as long as it ain't by Matrox. Have a friend who gives me shit about how Matrox's newest or soon to come card rules/is going to rule no matter what. Pisses me off enough to shun the entire brand.
Still like 3dfx no matter what anybody says.

blah..!
I bought TNT2 Ultra two months ago and I'm not very happy with it. The drivers that come with the board are fucked up, Direct3D support is messed up, they are really bad clipping problems, and Half-Life looks like shit in D3D. OpenGL is good though. MythII (D3D if TNT2) sucks ass. I download the new drivers and guess what? Direct3D works fine, but no OpenGL game works. Whats wrong with this board? And it makes sometimes some weird fan noises.
Voodoo4 will suck ass as much as Voodoo3 does. Just because they add some bluring shit in order to enhance some perspective and a T-Buffer, doesnt justify for me to spend about $3oo for a new board.
Spending about $4oo-5oo a year on 3D boards in order to keep up with the technology its a very steep price for a few more fps. |

I did some reading on the Voodoo4. It's gonna be a good card. Matrox rules the court as far different technologies -- multimonitor, tv, etc... The Geforce prices will be between 200-300 for most cards. In case you all have been wondering why there is so much hype about this card, here are a the two biggest things about the card:
RDRAM - Rambus (not the slower S or Synchronis type)
GPU - Graphic Processor Unit (will take out the CPU for all graphical functions - leaving the CPU to allow better and faster AI)
To my knowledge, voodoo 4 will still rely heavily on the CPU and "may" not have RDRAM. So the Voodoo4 in all technology views will be slower than the GeForce - So Far. |

Hehe... I just put together a cpu sportin' a 32Mb TNT2 AGP hooked together with a 16 Mb PCI, a Athlon600 and 256 Mb RAM. Damn SOB that owns it! (It wasn't for me of course)
To test it out, I opened a 800x600 pic in PhotoShop and blew it up to 80,000x60,000 and the SOB did it in like 10 seconds. Shit!
A, well, I can only drull 'til I get my own.
*VooDoo sucks major ass. Trust me!* |

Bah!
Actually what this all comes down to is personal opinion...
Sucks majorly though if v4 doesn't have GPU, 'cause my PII 350 won't be able to cope with any of the upcoming games properly. I gotta get a new card pretty soon, because my voodoo2 can't run squat anymore.
Same thing every year, just have to wait and see...

Just noticed this over at voodooextreme...
"The flagship product of the VSA-100 architecture, the Voodoo5 6000 AGP, will feature quad VSA-100 processors and 128 MB of graphics memory. It will be the first consumer graphics product to break the one billion pixel per second fill rate barrier. The Voodoo5 6000 AGP, which renders eight fully featured pixels per clock, will deliver
between 1.33 and 1.47 gigatexels/gigapixels per second fill rate. It is expected to be priced at $599.99*."
Oh yes... it WILL be mine...
Though $600 = OUCH! |

Oh Really, I just read about some pixel shit and blurring effects with some texture compression. The Voodoo3 doesn't even go higher than 16mb SDRAM. I don't think the next line of Voodoo will go past 32mb SDRAM - Maybe they'll throw in RDRAM. I believe the GeForce board by WinFast is going to offer 64mb RDRAM. ALL GeForce boards will include RDRAM which is much much more faster than the SDRAM. Not to mention the 350mhz RamDec, tv-out on most boards, superb mpeg 1&2 support, APG 2x & 4x full support, complete OpenGL libraries (to my knowledge, voodoo only has partial), D3D, and to much more to remember.
Voodoo Sucks, you don't like, BITE ME!! lol |

Yea, I saw this review on the Voodoo 5 and their T-Buffer motion blur, and the edge smoothing, but you can't do too much if you're greedy on the memory. The Voodoo 3 3000 is half as powerful as a stupid Savage4, for the simple reason that the Savage runs on 32Mb SdRam. O, yea, and they're not gonna be using any RdRam. Their 4th and 5th generation boards will be running on 32 Mb SdRam. They always seem to be a step behind. I wouldn't bother wasting my cash on one. |

Well I was right about the OpenGL for Voodoo based cards (1,2,3) - they don't offer full suport in games. Also, none of the next generation voodoo's will offer any kind of GPU - this is an nvidia only (possibly patented) technology.
On another note, if you're looking forward to Voodoo's Motion blur - IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT! There were some screens posted somewhere showing off the technology, trust me - it sucks. The same pics also had the so-called antialiasing and T-Buffer. I couldn't tell the difference between it and my RivaTNT 16mb card. All the screens were in the Q3A Test in case you're wondering. |

Uh, a savage3 - what kinda pitiful fool are you? With 4mb - that sucks dude. The least you can do is buy a 64bit 2d/3d card for less than $50. The original TNT's can stick up with the latest games - and the prices are really cheap to. Get one of those. |
