Anthony, I enjoy manual labor. Too bad I got derailed into this art stuff. I would have made and excellent inmate somewhere. Hey that would be cool. Knock over a bank, get 30 years, and just sit around and draw all day. Think of the endless maintenance that the average life requires- all done for you. Bring a soap on a rope, however.
Bang, how bout a fap-a-thon to raise money for your education? You know, I make a pledge for every time you can, uh, fap, uh, successfully in 24 hours. Course there must be an impartial witness, and that might be tough. Maybe a notary public with a weekend free? The promotional possibilities are endless. |

Finally found my password! Haha!
Hmmm.... I do Aikido, which is a martial art that comes from aiki-jujitsu. The best comparison I can make is 'judo-like' but more circular.
I also play really bad guitar... steel stringed acoustic twang!

`What sort of people live about here?' asked Alice.
`In that direction,' the Cat said, waving its right paw round, `lives a Hatter: and in that direction,' waving the other paw, `lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad.'
`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here... |

Football!
I love playing football, watching football, reading about football, whatever - football is my true love.
I like to play tennis every now and then, really enjoy watching it too
And then, there is games. Playing them, not making them, sadly I've been playing ocmp games for years on end now though, my first computer being the ZX Spectrum at the age of about 3/4. Since then I've had nearly every console imaginable
And my other hobby would be my site www.game-wise.co.uk I'm editor there. I write occaisonally, I've done about 5 pieces, but most my time is spent trying to sort it out. I'm a bit slack though, I have 30 articles to upload yet _________________ I only love you when I'm down, I'm only near you when I'm away. |

I am currently serving 'National Service' .. i'm in the army ...
current hobby is pissing off my sergeants and getting guard duty at least once a week.
And also trying to smuggle contraband items into camp once a week.
current goal: to weasel my way around the system, so that after Basic Military Training, i'll get an 8 to 5 job at headquaters that allows me to go home everyday instead of being posted to an active unit.
If i get posted to an active unit ... for 2 years i'll be stuck on an island, being only able to book out on saturdays and book in on sundays. that would really suck. _________________ This be my website |

I used to paint Warhammer miniatures and play Magic the gathering, but I don't do that anymore.
Most of the time I'm behind PC surfing the web, drawing, modelling and/or playing games... And if I'm not, I'm usually keeping myself alive/clean or I'm with friends having fun. |

surf forecast wednesday, july 23
some good news... the bermuda high has intensified some & is shifting north some into our swell window. a large fetch of moderate E winds over the southern atlantic should build our surf heading into and through the weekend.
look for SE to ESE winds and semi-bumpy conditions throught the period except for possibly cleaner stuff right at dawn.
thursday very slightly larger lines could be visible, but only in the knee to thigh high range, possibly some better sets by the end of the day.
friday knee to waist high ESE lines.
saturday thigh to waist occ. rib+ ESE to E lines. hopefully some chest high sets by later in the day.
sunday wiast to rib. occ. chest high. E swell. |

I thought I was the only person who likes manual labor. Preferrably when it invovles lots of muscle work, like chopping up trees. I was thinking of joining a home building charity group this summer, but I'm not sure if I'll have the time. |

Downhill skiing is one of my favorite things. The summer blues have already hit me. I've been reading up on ski tuning so I can at least do something with my skis.
Hiking in the mountains is also fun. Great scenery, and it can be a little adventuresome. |

I seem to enjoy throwing things off of cliffs. Oh, I also remember liking the sensation of floating on my back in slow moving water. I'm not talking about tubs or pools or any of that crap. Think streams and small rivers. Places where you can pick up some speed and can't touch bottom.
Would that count as a hobby?

Photography (this was taken at Yosemite National Park)
Pottery. Thrown on potter's wheel and painted with ceramic underglazes and glazes. Stoneware.
I also have done a lot of sewing (I haven't done anything recently, though). I have sewn a lot of my own wardrobe.

The summer blues? It's the other way around for me in the winter; mountain biking is anything but fun when it's super cold outside (I almost got frostbite last year).
Bearsclover - nice earthenware piece; I love pottery - have you got any more you'd like to share with us? Tell us more; do you have your own kiln?

Thanks for the kind words, Gort!
I work in both stoneware and earthenwarethat piece is stoneware. (Stoneware can be colorful!) More of my pottery (and that of my sister's) can be seen at http://www.greenverdugo.com. (The site desperately needs updating.)
I do have a potter's wheel and kiln. I have an electric wheel that needs fixing, so I also have a small kick wheel (called the York Kick Wheel) that I got from http://www.axner.com. It really is an amazing little wheeldoesn't look like much, but you can throw small/medium sized pots on it (nothing too big). I share several electric kilns with my sister. Yes, we are geeks when it comes to pottery! _________________ Madness takes its toll - please have exact change. |

Bearsclover - awesome stuff!! I love pottery - you're very talented! Great samples on the site. I especially love Japanese pottery styles; I have a small collection of stuff - very natural - I love just holding the stuff - can almost feel the potter's hands. _________________ - Tom Carter

hahaha, i still remeber that story:
Bearsclover wrote: |
If it helps you at all, I started taking pottery classes years ago, and I had NO, I mean NO talent for the potter's wheel. I was the worst in the class. I saw everyone just take to the potter's wheel, and I was making these pitiful "lopsided thimbles". They were REALLY pathetic. But I didn't give up. Other people saw how I was - a true geek when it came to pottery. I remember making 50 mugs with handles, just so I could practice making handles! I practiced and practiced, and got better. Other students with more innate "talent" got tired of pottery and gave up. I didn't. I kept on trying, and finally got better at the potter's wheel. So much better, in fact, that new pottery students would tell me how much "talent" I had! (I always laughed and said "Oh, if you only knew...") Through the years, I have gotten my pottery into craft galleries and shops. Pretty good for a person with no "talent", eh? (Of course, there are people with FAR more innate pottery talent than me, but I made the most of what I had - and I am proud of the results!)

Thanks Gort, for the kind words on my "talent"! Bless your heart!
And oDD, wow, deja vu! I tell that story a lot, but I don't tell it every time! But it is so true. I really was the most pathetic in pottery class. My teacher admitted some time later that he didn't think I'd make it. During my "lopsided thimble" phase, he often commented that maybe I should collaborate with another potter who threw well. (I'd paint the pottery, they'd throw.) This was his subtle way of suggesting that I give up on the wheel, or at least not set much hope on it. But I didn't want to give up on the wheel.
I'll never be the best at it, not by a long stretch, but I can "fool" people with my "talent," can't I? _________________ Madness takes its toll - please have exact change. |
