well these aren't really WIPs but i don't plan on finishing them either so i picked this part to post some of my previous doings. just so people can see what standard i'm at for future and maybe give me something to work towards. thanks for any replies in advance .
did this at least several months back and the sketch was better so i think i could improve by now.
started life as a really rough sketch which i then had a go at turning into something. this is kind of old by now i should think but i was still pleased with it.
i didn't draw this but i did do the colours. this is more recent than the other images but still i've improved since then... i think...
ah yes, an anime lineart i had lying around and started on..... and probably won't finish... but still this is about the level i'm at now i think. my friend trashes anything i do tenfold no matter how much i feel i improve so thats whats dissuaded me fromm finishing this partly..... so....
so after looking at those any general comments or crits for me to work towards? |

i like the third (for its lineart!)
and the fourth (u drew it right?) is very nice as well!
im not a fan of DB .. nor a fan of such drawingstyle.. but i think your cg is cool!
the first pic... even at my level i dare say the anatomy is not 'understood' .. i shant elaborate... look at the chest and connections betwen main muscle groups, etc. find reference photos to help and learn! (i know i am ;p) |

sorry i should have stated more clearly that the lineart for the last picture was just one i find long long ago. would be nice if i could draw like that though . yeah my anatomy drawing is gradually improving (as my semi-fantasy thread proves hopefully)
as for dragonball/z/gt etc it started me off in the anime direction and stuff, i try to keep away from dbz style stuff but still there are usually a lot of good pictures for cging that are dbz so... practise
thanky for commenty (i think i'll redo that first pic some day...) _________________

The first pic - I like the idea for the character, but the proportion needs a lot of work.. (try looking at books on anatomy for tips)
The third pic - Your colouring has come a long way from the second pic, I really like Ken's trousers, Shame its not your own drawing..
The fourth pic - My least favourite, the shading just doesn't go with the style of art..
Overall its good, don't be put off by people dissing your work, remember everyones got there own opinion.. Keep practising, try colouring some of your own work, or maybe design your own characters.. |

I think your work shows significant improvement from your first to last image, and I like them - even though the whole anime buisness aint really my thang.
I work on the understanding that if each new piece I complete shows improvement, that is all I can possible hope for. Even if it is frustrating sometimes.Keep going! ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Stop showing your work to your "friend".
Practice, practice, practice.
If you need feedback, show it to an art teacher at school. Or keep posting here.
The first image you showed looks like something I might have done at age 14. It does show some skill. Everyone here, at some point in time, stank! (I'm not saying that you do ). We all kept at it, filling entire sketch books with pencil drawings of anatomy or just about anything. Then moving on to coloring with pencils, markers, paint and these days, computers. At this stage you might want to spend more time with a sketch book and a pencil than on the computer. Time spent practicing in any medium is not wasted though.
It might take years before you could show something to your friend and he would say "hey nice!". If you love drawing, just keep at it and you will get there in time. |
