I also got it really cheap a few months ago. But I'm finding it too difficult for me and I can never finish this game. There wasn't any problem for me until I reached later levels where you can't avoid the poisonous alien eggs (I'm not even sure what they are called) and you stay poisoned most of the time.
The graphic is ok, the game engine it used looks better in Thief 2.

SS2 is one of the most immersive gaming experiences out there. It's also one of the scariest. Definately worth $10 (or even $50). So far I pretty much think so highly of it that it's #1 on my top ten games. I hope you enjoy it!

yes I have, it's a good game, though at some points finding items for puzzles can be a bit annoying (having to travel long distances back and forth)

System Shock 2 was pretty good. Quite scary. When I first heard that awful moaning in the med-lab, I almost wet myself.

It's a masterpiece. Sure it has it's problems (which we'll no doubt discuss once you've finished it ) but the good far outweighs the bad.
I have an urge to pay it again every now and then just to soak up the ambience. Not many games do that to me (it helps that the gameplay is so free I think. You're 'actually there', not just running through a prescribed sequence of areas and fights).

Pay very close attention to your resources and upgrades for the first half. You will have to specialise a little bit, but not too much or you'll corner yourself later on. Think like you're in the situation.
SS2 is, in effect one of the only First Person perspective Survival Horror games.

Holy SHIT Faust! I thought I was the only guy on the planet who'd ever even heard of Privateer.

You get the Gleefully Heroic Motherfucker of the Month medal!

[PS - what kinda OS are you running that on?]
