Hello
This is something that I have been thinking of with all these themed Threads in the Gallery finished.
It would be cool to have a Weekly Themed thread with different topics and themes every week, maybe a bit copy of the DSG threads in Conceptart but I think it would be a cool idea.
for eg, one week there could be horses and another there could be "Evil Knights" or "Old Trees", or maybe "2 hour drawings", (just some examples).
I would like to have more examples and also what we should have the first week, lets just say we could start out with 4 weeks at the time and for those 4 weeks its decided in advance what the topic should be about. Or maybe the topic could be voted for every week.
The topic of the Thread is changed every week and maybe the voting can be hold here in the Random musings section, so the voting for the first week is Called "The Voting 1st week- Weekly Themed Thread" and then we can use the same thread for the 2nd week and the 3rd and so on.
This is something that could be a really cool thing so throw down your views and comments in this thread, I wanted to hear everyones view before making any actual Thread this time.
Also Sumaleth or someone else who knows, is there some way to make a voting in the forum?, so we can have maybe 8 themes to vote for per week.
Ok I am looking forward to everyones answers, thank you

I like the idea. I'd suggest 90 - 120 minutes time constraint for each painting, (like DSG, but you can paint anytime you want). Week is quite much time, and finishing, polishing, tweaking is tempting , but not that important IMO, you can always do it later. Just my 0,02 $ _________________ a.k.a. azazel or eltazar |

Nice idea.
A topic could also be an idea or feeling. Like "happy" "funny" "modern" "antique".

I looked at the first page of the Speedpainting IV thread. Apparently Sumaleth intended it to get to 1300 and its over 2400 now. Is there some problem with large threads in the forum software? |

>I wish some of a Mod would bring back Draw Club
We did bring it back a few months ago, but hardly anyone participated so it wasn't followed up.

There was a limitation with the forum software we used to use (once a thread had about 1300 posts it would go screwy), but part way through the life of Speed Painting III we switched over to phpBB2 which hasn't demonstrated any such problems yet. _________________ Art Links Archive -- Artists and Tutorials |

I think it's a good idea.
I'd suggest topics that a lot of people seem to have difficulty with. It'd be more of a challenge. Hands and/or feet, for example. _________________ ~Gio

I agree with flat. We would have a theme for each week. Like one week we have lesbians, then the next week we have school girls then so on.

Sounds good, but... I'd have to concur with the weekly idea. Something around monthly or bi-weekly may be more appropriate considering a bunch of people have jobs, are busy with the ladies, smokin' da joints, or are just unemployed and lazy as fuck. But what I'm trying to say is, like Dhabih did, go for monthly for the best results. _________________ girls like shining |

Hardly anyone participated?
The Odd Couple Draw Club was the latest one, right?

WOW Draw Club weekly!?
great!!!
Now the question is ... is this an alternative to Matthew's idea or should there be both?
I remember that a lot of people have complained that there are too many themed threads.
On the other hand there's the poll though ... _________________ http://www.conceptworld.org |

Hello
I got to hand it out to everyone who has answer in here and also Sumaleth for making the Draw club Thread, Wow this is super cool, thank you. :)
This was exactly what I was looking for, a thread that is up all the time and also with different themes, that way we can reduce all the themed threads that only stays for two days.
One more thing that would be cool and that is to make everyone to participate what is on every week, maybe there could be some kind of Voting on topics, is that possible Sumaleth?
The voting could be placed here and with a pre-decided amount of topics to vote for, so there is a poll every week and the topic with most amount of votes gets to be the next weeks topic, what do you people think?
Maybe that Thread could be a sticky too here in The Random Musings?
Once again thank you Sumaleth you are the coolest, now I just have to go to the store and buy me an Apple...hehe. :)
Matthew
P.S. Thankx to everyone for feedback and for the Voting in here. |
