Not another 'selfportrait', not for selfportrait's sake, but for my art project, I'm doing heads seen from below and I'm the only I can persuede to approve of my photographing.
Mind you, I don't think the examiners are going to accept something done on a computer, or atleast not treat as something which counts for anything .. |

wow this was quite a trip, it took me exactly 8 days to read everything and look at every shot, and let me tell you people im impressed not just by the artwork but also by the way everyone interracts, helps each other, the 3 people that stood out the most in my eyes were: SpoogeD, HardCorePixxx, and Mathew...I mean Mathew's progress from his first post to the last is just outstanding...YOU'VE IMPROVED SO MUCH MAN...
In its own way i got to know everyone, thats awesome thanx to all for all the works youve submited, man...as soon as i figure out how to do this i too am gonna try, but till then ill just observe.... |

Pat - yea hehe that one is awesome.
Rhomb - your monsters rocks.
Heres one from me, I had to have one in the 81 Thread too, it became a bit twisted eventhough I flipped it several times. Well, it could be taken for something else too, not meant to be a pervert picture thou......haha

Spooge, would you mind explain a little bit how you did the Rachel Butterfly drawing ? How did you do the background richness of texture ? etc..
thx in advance _________________ If there is no God, who pops up the next kleenex in the box? |

That butterfly image is pretty similar to the first image I ever did at this forum, a girl standing by a stream with a basket. hmm come a long way from that one.
The butterfly was a charcoal drawing from life that was scanned and then combined with a pastel (one I think I posted here a while back) and then manipulated in PS. Pastel is great because it mixes just the right amount to not go muddy and allow the particles to mix optically. Complementary color strokes go over one another and vibrate to a rich gray instead of mud. This is a major headache I have with oils when working in one sitting. They just make mud in my ten thumbed hand. Glazing is a way around that, but time consuming. That is why I am taking another look at acrylics, but they have a long list of drawbacks as well.
So scanning pastels can really make some nice textures to play with. |

nexykun - Thank you, I like your latest too, very cool design there on the cutter. :)
Maan I love this thread, good work everyone, but...where is Duracel? Duracel we need your pictures. :)
Ok I am going back to 19th Century, trying to get old style painting, Albert Bierstadt was the greatest. :)

Matthew: That is one of the best I have seen from you recently! Very nice subtle tones in that piece, nice work. Bierstadt was the man, shame there are no readily available books about him.
