Hello, I'm newer to doing my own Art, I started about a year ago after I got addicted to the anime scene. I got a few questions about drawing tablets.

#1 How do they work? (If I use my hand will it draw, or just the pen?)
#2 Whats the advantage over a pencil (besides that you can use layers and the trustly undo function Laughing )
#3 How does the tablet interact with a program like photoshop? Is it a plugin?
#4 What types of tablets are there, and what advantage to they have over other models? Whats a good price to spend on a tablet?

Thanks! Smile

Well visit this site: http://www.wacom.com/

You will find all the information about the tablets there. Wink

Well all the tables works just fine with photoshop and other programs.
And only the pencil and the mouse which comes with a tablet set will draw, not your hand. *Chuckles* Very Happy

I have a wacom Intuos 1. You use your digital pen that comes with your digital board, and you look at the monitor while you draw. When i first got it i thought it was going to be hard to look at a monitor instead of the board where i'm drawing to...but at the end it took me 5 minutes to get used to it. It is not a plugin....i dont think.... the pen just acts like your mouse. The advantage over a pencil is that you'l get to just directly draw your art onto your computer instead of having to scan it and stuff. Although i have a wacom and never tried any other brands of digital boards, I've had been recommended to get a Wacom instead of a Aiptek or other brand. Check on ebay for cheap prices on digi boards.

Whoa! It would just be plain weird to use the tablet by looking at it.
I know it's a question from one who doesnt know much about using tablets, and everyone here has been in that stage, but it gets very natural looking at the screen while painting. You aren't looking at your mouse when you paint in MS Paint are you? (Or ARE you!?! Razz )
