I know the feeling. There will be better days.
Well you didn't write what you tried already but there are different things you can work on.

Just some random thoughts ...

Don't force yourself to do something you absolutely don't want to do.
Sometimes I feel more comfortable with sketching ... sometimes I want to copy photographs ... sometimes I do the cube exercise ...

Try doing some sketches that don't have to look good.
Just try to come up with an interesting composition for example ... or color other artists lineart.
Try stuff like that.

Don't put a lot of time in a painting if your concept isn't good.

Also a problem I had was that I tried to draw when I couldn't concentrate on drawing at all.

Look at images you like and ask yourself (not others) how you would paint something like that.

Also read stuff to improve. About composition / perspective / color theory and so on.

Thanks AndyT.I don't have much trouble getting ideas on paper and still enjoy drawing with pencil but when it comes to rendering it in colour my brain just freezes.I have been studing a lot of work from good artists and try to pull off their paint styles but to no avail. It just seems that I can't get into the digital sceene.I might have to stick with pencils and airbrush for a while. And take up traditional brush paintings then come back to digital. just paint, don't wait for tips, don't download tons of tutorials. just paint. Paint quick stuff, no 80 hour paintings but 1-2 hour speedies. Don't be afraid to experiment new techniques.(sp!) From time to time check methods of work of other artists and try to adopt techniques you find usefull. After around painted 300 pics you will find that there were no need for asking this question Smile

and don't be so hard for your self. And if you don't find any joy in lerning how to paint than maybe it's better to quit because if you want to paint throu your life your going to learn how to do it all your life.
