That's right. All the art forums have talked about it, but now, finally someone is doing it--cgtalk, that is.
Entries have to be digital(2D or 3D). No entry fees(unlike Spectrum).

Nice!
Wow... that's a pretty high resolution to work to (understandably).
None of my work is that high rez and I doubt my computer could cope with that resolution. |

Just paint smaller and blow it up. Paintings don't suffer much from upsampling, since they don't have as much fine detail as photos or renders. You might need to smooth out areas or particularly high contrast, but otherwise it should work fine.
Not sure if I'm going to submit anything for this . . . I'm hating my body of work at the moment . . . gotta get something new done . . . but what?
Hope this book does well. The CGTalk crew have been some of the most enthusiastic people in the CG community for years. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Yeah, I was thinking about that. People say that if the res is too small, then it appears pixelated. So why not boom it up to the resolution and let bilinear filtering do the job. It'd look no worse than a standard photo.

Blaaaargh to that! Besides, if you don't submit that pic of the American Resistance I'll... implode. |

Yikes, I'd have to scale DOWN most of my images to fit those thingies, guidelines. I guess my computer isn't quite as horrible as I thought it was. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Don't think I'm as far along as those featured people, but I'll give it a shot. All they can do is say no, right? _________________ den.vvulf |

Yeah, exactly. I gave it a shot too. If they say no, I'm not out any money, after all. Although, if giving them money would increase my chances...nah, just kidding. _________________ Dignity isn't important. It's everything.

Leonard was telling me that He has been getting too many emails/private messages from people saying how theyd love to get their work on there but arent capable of outputting stuff thats on par with some of the examples shown on that page. so hes gotten a bit less than he had hoped.
which means the people that do submit have an easier time of getting in
also, dont worry about getting your images exactly the resolution they asked, if you have no way to re-render an image... or resample a 20 image, then itll just give them more room to put up a few pieces on that page. also leo and mark will be testing out some resizing application( no mention of what it is ) but apparantely it does a good job of blowing stuff up good.
anyhoo. send send!! _________________ -M-K-
